Someone registered at MetaFilter in the last round of signups, waited 10 days, and then posted a link to his own site, which turned out to be a marketing tool for collecting e-mail addresses via thebettercompany.com. What a jerk! Mathowie: "I just can't believe the jesus guy turned out to be worse than even our worst fears." Does MoFi have a similar policy against self-linking? Just be wary for future potential MoFi abuse by viral marketers.
