Sunni Drag Cleric Supports USA Rashid is the Imam of the only Muslim house of worship within the Green Zone in Baghdad. All the other Iraqi clerics hate him, but he doesn't care. He patterns himself after the Virgin Mary, and he bleaches his beard as a sign of purity to go with his patterned contact lenses. And he loves Whitney Houston and "Gone With the Wind."

Curious George: Movie Ratings Educational Poster I'm looking for a copy of a poster (either a real poster, or an image) that I used to see in movie theatres. It was an educational poster that showed the different rating levels for films G thru X (this was pre NC-17). With each rating was an illustration of the family members who could attend the film - the lower ratings included a rabbit in the audience who also showed up in the X audience wearing a pair of sunglasses.
I haven't found anything via Google or eBay...
Curious George I just ate at a restaurant in Los Angeles (The Pig, a BBQ restaurant on La Brea in Hollywood) that was awful. Not "rat feces in the food" awful, just expensive and damn mediocre. I ordered a slab of ribs that were tiny, that came cold and were dry. To top it all off, the corn bread was stale and the beans tasted like they came from a can. I complained to the staff who were sympathetic, but also seemed to have heard this all before. Does anyone know of a website that I can post to where folks will actually read and care about my review?
The Degree Confluence Project The goal of the project is to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree intersections in the world, and to take pictures at each location. There is a confluence within 49 miles (79 km) of you if you're on the surface of Earth.
This can't be true. So, my fellow monkeys, put your folkie caps on... What is folk music?

New message from the Pope about the differences between men and women. (Stolen from MetaFilter.) I know this is NewsFiltery, but it did make me think about what a woman's place has been over the ages. more inside

Trystan's Closet I came across this while searching the name of a clothing store. While not what I was looking for, this woman's gallery of nerd-fabulous creations was a cool discovery nonetheless. more inside

Five Eight (Quicktime video) One of the most legendary bands in the history of the Athens, Georgia music scene. These guys have been around a long time. I once saw this band at the Brass Mug in Tampa and the lead singer Mike Mantione stripped naked and read poetry. He said he wouldn't stop until he sold enough CDs and t-shirts for gas money for the band's van. That kinda stuff is normal for this band.

When you've got to feel it in your bones... A Murder of Skeletons. An exquisitely designed Flash game. Be sure to click the little asterisk in the bottom-right of the game window in order to listen to some suitably atmospheric music from Johnny Hollow. (Seen at MeFi.)
You thought Gene Simmons was getting a lot of trim. Gene study shows that 8% of *all* Asian men are descended from a single patriarch; and it had to have been a guy who, uh, gets around. Speculation is that it was Ghengis-Khan.
