No concept of math?
1+1=2. Mathematics doesn't get any more basic than this, but even 1+1 would stump the brightest minds among the Piraha tribe of the Amazon.
Is it possible that language provides us with a conceptual framework with which we can think about the world around us and without that framework we will be unable to develop certain lines of thinking? In this case, the absence of mathematics in the Piraha culture appears to have made it extremely difficult for them to acquire the concepts later in life, "When faced with a line of batteries and asked to duplicate the number they saw, the men could not get beyond two or three before starting to make mistakes."

Fahrenheit 9/11 with a twist of Happiness?
If you have ever questioned what makes people happy, then you are not alone. Four filmmakers also wondered this and have actually made a documentary film out of it. What they did was travel all over the US to ask random people questions about happiness. The movie clips at the website look great. The trailer should be up soon. The film is called One Happy Movie (www.onehappymovie.com) and is supposed to be out Friday, September 10th. Happiness on the weekend of the anniversary of September 11th well see.

Time to consider moving to Alaska?
- If voters pass the measure (on the November ballot), it would be legal to grow, smoke and sell any amount of marijuana so long as one is 21 years of age.

Have seven adopted children that you are being paid to keep, but you don't want?
Ship them off to Africa where you don't have to worry about Child Protective Services dropping in to check on the condition of the home.
A hidden variable
- An anomalous effect during a solar eclipse casts doubt on the theory of General Relativity. As the moon passes in front of the sun, a swinging pendulum will move faster than it should. This seemingly minor piece of weirdness is yet another flaw in Einstein's theory of gravitic force which suggests that the incompatibility of Quantum Mechanics with General Relativity is not the incomplete nature of the former, but errors in the latter. No explanation. No use looking for one either. It's all part of the cosmic unconsciousness.

Incorect
. A word of warning from the get-go, this one's not particularly safe for viewing at work etc. Incorect Art Pronographique is French graphic designers Yogo.O, Izo9000, and Nogamatic's online showcase..."industrial power with the service of the good taste"...apparently! The design of the site it great, from the fantastic isometric site intro to each individual image within my favourite gallery, 'Hole Graphics'. However, while stylised and pixelised, a couple of the Mamo Clips are quite disturbing so steer clear if you're easily offended.

Curious, George: Geriatric Dog
Have recently inherited a 15-year old, smooth-haired, miniature dachshund from a kinsman -- she's neutered, severely vision-impaired, and pretty damn deaf, too.

Curious George: Annoying CD wallets.
You know, these things. What ad wizard designed them? You can't label them because there's no place on them to affix a card. You can't write on them because they're jet black. You can't tape a label on because it falls off the nylon and makes it sticky. Any creative solutions for labelling them?

OK, I'm a book reviewer. But I swear I have used no more than two of these horrible buzzwords and fashionable phrases. Ever.
