Curious George: Best MoFi Post of 2006? Well it's happened again. You've wasted another Internet Year (tm) watching MoFi. So, if Pandacam made the best post of 2005, what's your vote for "Best MonkeyFilter Post of 2006"?

The rules are: - FPP's only (individual comments may be printed locally, cherished accordingly, or vilified universally but not voted upon) - Must be posted in the Year of Our MonkeyBashi 2006 - Only one vote each (multiple comments and kitfisto will be ignored) - General snarkish comments, poo-flinging, and other rending of garments are strictly prohibited. Now keep the hits clean and above the preview button! Fight!

  • Well, it seemed that only four of us enjoyed it, but, oh, sweet Mothra, did I ever love Do-It-Yourself Bombay TV. That, and I remain unabashedly proud of my Tandoori Western Trilogy.
  • My vote = #13,152 Where are my BIG TITS? Chy's picture goodness cannot be matched... the thread winner for me And #12,673 is a tie for me; What the hell is the answer!?
  • How about this finely crafted FPP? Chances are that today's award wouldn't exist without it.
  • There was much monkey lovin' in this thread.....
  • How about this finely crafted FPP? it's the second link in this FPP, chowderhead! Spread owwwt! *bonk* I nominate Dicky Dicky Bang Bang . . . Ralph the Dog (*applause*) Waiter: And would Madame like some freshly ground pepper on her salad? Lynne Cheney: Yes, please, I'd like it peppered pretty good... BLAM!!! ______________________________________ Curious George and his Crocs, Capt. Renault (*applause*) /checks uberhipster reference card Um... You are wearing them ironically? Otherwise, I have bad news. ___________________________________________ The US Congress F*cks Up Royally . . . petebest (*wild cheering and applause, panties thrown onstage*) Bush Moves Toward Martial Law Wow, Habeas Corpus and Posse Comitatus on the same day? Impressive. ______________________________________________ US Voting Day! . . . meredithea (*applause*) They didn't say anything about the approporateness of tap dancing in line at the polling place, but I plan on doing that whether it's approporate or not. _________________________________________ And the weiner is should be: Grackles . . . petebest (*thunderous applause, orgiastic, frenzied cheering*) I MEANT WITH FRIED RICE
  • How about this finely crafted FPP? it's the second link in this FPP, chowderhead! Spread owwwt! *bonk* Well, it's my nomination, and I'm sticking to it.
  • THE NOMINATION OF THE INAPPROPRIATE CAPS POSTING SECONDED!!!!
  • Whoa, I missed Bombay TV the first time ar0und. Har! A beaut, lotsa fun.
  • THIRDED. LAME COMMENT ON HOW I TOTALLY THOUGHT OF THIS FIRST, BUT LET SOMEONE ELSE TAKE THE CREDIT FOR POSTING.
  • COMPLETELY IGNORES PETE'S RULE STATING ONLY ONE VOTE FOR EACH AND FOURTHS EVEN THOUGH I FIRSTED. and we all know how painful that can be
  • Curious George: I Need Some Duds is a sentimental favorite of mine.
  • Didn't realize that was vintage ought six, TUMmy. Nice one. Good nose, clean and insouciant with a hint of oakberry and neufschatel joie de libre.
  • THE NOMINATION OF THE INAPPROPRIATE CAPS POSTING FOURTHED!!!!
  • My vote goes to Curious George the hard-up. It's a masterpiece of both comedy and tragedy.
  • Kee-rist, not that again. Just when we had all ignored it for a couple of months...
  • The Werzog tribute.
  • I nominate Scary-Go-Round! http://monkeyfilter.com/link.php/11182
  • I have to go with Scary-Go-Round, too. Here's it linky style.
  • What was that day maybe 7 or 8 months ago where we had some dude posting 50+ spams? If we have a "worst" competition, that's my entry.
  • May 31, starting here.
  • I nominate the shoes on/off post; nice to see so many strong opinions about a seemingly silly subject. For runner-up: the Whale in the Thames thread - so much wonder, desperate hope, and finally sadness.
  • Second rocket88 and the hard up. But one for Chy, surely? Not that it's my place...
  • I'd go with the "duds" post since there are no rules about Curious George vs. links. It seems to me that that's what we do really well - support each other while getting silly. On the other hand, maybe we need categories. I loved the music links of last week. It'd be hard to pick one, but they brought the year to an ecstatic close for me.
  • I too love the Werzog!!!
  • I nominate the gorgeous Bag End Dollhouse.
  • I'm having a hard time believing I didn't get best post of 2005 when I broke the news of the impending New Orleans/Katrina disaster. Sure everyone got sick of the news, but it was compelling to watch as it happened. I think the monkey's comments in that thread were quite compelling.
  • Frankly, I think the best thread of 2006 began back in 2004.
  • Alright. If I have to nominate a thread that began in 2006, this was my personal favorite: Sweet, Sweet Mouse Revenge,
  • Much as it pains me not to vote for one of my 2 (yes TWO, count 'em, losers) nominated posts so far, I'll go with Louis' long and lonely crank-fest of a search for love. Gazing aghast with horror into the soul of someone else's love-life - best of the web, mountain-sized chicks and all.
  • No more nominations? You there! Lurker! What say you?
  • All of my posts are winners! How could anyone pick just one? Fine, I second the Werzog thread. The monkeys got particularly creative in that one.
  • Did any of the posts involve winged monkeys? I think that's an important factor.
  • Oh my stars -- a BearGuy sighting! Hey!
  • I'd like to cast a *real* vote for Curious George the Hard Up. And another fake one for Best of 2005.
  • I can't read that whole damn Hard Up thread. Whatever happened? Did the Captain ever ever find love? Did he ever get saluted, at least?
  • Werzog. The hard-up thread was a lot of fun, but the lack of resolution left me with a bad taste. Also, there were too many grammatical errors.
  • If you click-and-drag the scrollbar through it really fast, you'll get the answer. Or at least an answer. Maybe. Which is more than I can say for that thread. It's like that stupid Indian Outhouse threadf*ckery - no answer! Bupkis! Nada! *votes again for Grackles thread*
  • Since we are in the first week of 2007, may I suggest a new idea (one that may even help promote high quality FPPs)? How about we vote for a MoFi Post of the Week (each Sunday/Monday)? Then the first couple of days of each month we run the Post of the Weeks against each other for the honor of MoFi Post of the Month. Then, when we get to this point next year, instead of racking our brains for the Post of the Year, we already have our 12 nominees selected? Too logical? Too much work? Too great an idea for words? What say thee monkeys?
  • The idea above could lead to a couple of things, including a MoFi FPP Poster of the Year (the one that gets the most Post of the Week honors during the year). This encourages regular postings by our best posters (not that the egomaniacal bah-stahds need that much encouragement). : )
  • Ah, but sometimes the true merit of a post is not appreciated in the month it's posted--sometimes it has to simmer a bit, develop its own bacterial culture, sprout fuzzy bits and take on a life of its own, before its true value is known. Unless a bylaw stated that the POTM need not have been posted THAT month, just be the most entertaining/informative/life-changing post for the past monthly time period. Meaning that a post could win more than one POTM award, if it was JUST THAT GOOD, and dominate the filter from wire to wire. On the other side, those of us with gambling addictions could then "LET IT RIDE!" in the inevitable betting pools.
  • I would prefer a single elimination tournament format, in which at the end of the year all FPP's fight it out during the entire month of January until one world champion FPP is named. This way, we could drink beer.
  • But who will make up the Posters and Writers poll? Or will we just institute an algorithm based on the competetiveness of posting that month, the quality of the poster's previous posts, the geographic region in which the poster resides, and a bunch of "intangibles"? Call it the PCS?
  • This is democracy!!* Monkeybashi can just select one or two random monkeys each month, let them pick that month's best post, and make the announcement. Then the rest of us can just bask in their wisdom, and offer loud expressions of approval. * Democracy as per the US Supreme Court, the British House of Lords, the Canadian Senate, whatever it is they have in Hong Kong. Except without that basking in their wisdom crap.
  • The post that generates the most comments from the highest number of distinct monkeys is the Bestest. The Bestest Post will be determined by the silicon chip and not you logically deficient monkey-heads. *ptui*
  • MoFi Avenue missed out by a scant 2 1/2 weeks. I loved that post.
  • But what if all the monkeys respond with the comment "BANNINATE!"? That doesn't mean it's a good post. LIKE I HAVE A BETTER IDEA.
  • Fes's fashion disasters and Desktops were threads I enjoyed, but I don't know whether they strictly count as best FPP.
  • *votes Plegmund for most regular contributor of high-quality posts*
  • Seconded. I nominate Myself for Biggest Attention Whore. We need more categories. And prizes. Preferably with my likeness on them.
  • Ah, I got enough coasters and keychains with hairy asses on them. Hi-ooooo!
  • Ha Ha! Good one petes! *runs*
  • That means pete must really like hairy asses. I will interpret this as a compliment somehow.
  • *stops running* *makes 'WTF?' face*
  • Bravo!
  • Admittedly, it would have been better with a banana on her chest.
  • Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. I nominate... Oh. Oh. Oh. Eh... Oh, I don't know.
  • I quite love that picture. A lot.
  • Holy crap. I just read that entire hard up thread. In one sitting. My head now hurts. I can't believe I missed out on that one. Yeah, it gets my vote.
  • Quiet, you...
