When John Kerry made his latest campaign stop at a church on Sunday
, the reverend there heaped praise on the senator, calling him "the next president of the United States." Kerry, a Catholic, was attending that Sunday service in a Methodist church. It's no secret that Catholic leaders aren't happy with Kerry, but even if he was in good standing with them, politicians are barred from making campaign stops in Catholic churches. Catholic leaders are also forbidden from issuing anything even close to an endorsement of any politician unless they want to invite trouble from the IRS. Why the double standard?

Our Jokester Whitehouse
What two words would you least like to hear during a white house press briefing?
How about "April Fool's"?
Cheap Truth.
"Cyberpunk's one-page propaganda organ, Cheap Truth, was given away free to anyone who asked for it. Cheap Truth was never copyrighted; photocopy 'piracy' was actively encouraged. Cheap Truth deliberately mocked established [SF gurus] and urged every soul within earshot to boot up a word-processor and join the cause."

Curious George
Sorry, I might be going to the well a bit too much here (my second post of the day) but I need a bit more help. I asked a few days ago for suggestions for music to cut to a video of children eating and have found that I have a lot of stuff of them washing their hands before the meal. Does anyone have ideas for washing hands/washing up songs appropriate for a video of kids produced for their parents?
As before, they don't need to be originally recorded for children, just kid friendly.
BTW, I chose “Everybody Eats When They Come to My House” by Cab Calloway for the eating portion of the video. Cute as hell.

As we continue this, which was a continuation of this and this and started with this, which was a reply to this, which was inspired by this. Whew.

8th Grade Web Projects
I remember having to do instructional presentations, but in my day we did it with posters, none of this fancy HTML stuff. Some of them are pretty funny. I especially like how you can see the junior high student stereotypes, like the Teacher's Pet, and the slacker. There's also the sarcastic goth, and of course the pot heads
Ten Years.
Ten years have passed since Mr. Cobain did same. Links from somefilter because I didn't want to look up others. A "where were you?" A "what did you like?" A mosquito. A denial.
Haus Wittgenstein.
Ludwig Wittgenstein [Wikipedia], philosopher, before his return to philosophy after working as a schoolteacher and a gardener, built his sister a Haus, which you can look at.
Most Curious of all Georges
How would you deal with the current situation in Iraq? I'm just curious because I really don't have a clue.
You might have read some of my critical responses to links regarding the administration's stupendously foolish venture in Iraq, but now we are there, what are we going to do about it? Cut and run? Not a good option. "Stay the course", doesn't seem to be working to well either. Seems any choice is a bad choice right now.
I know you monkey's are a smart group of primates. I am inviting constructive analysis from both sides of the political spectrum. Also, let's hear from folks outside of the US. How should we both help Iraq and its general neighborhood while as much as possible, helping protect ourselves?

have you seen the billboards yet?
they're all over my area. large picture, inspirational message, the phrase "pass it on", tiny little letters at the bottom telling us who paid for it. they're also showing in some movie theaters. the site claims not to have any religious or political leanings behind the message, but the non-profit company owner is apparently a oil-money billionare who backs the republican party. so, is that the whole story? maybe not.
