Curious George: flute music
My sister is getting married in October and has a friend who she'd like to play the flute as the bride walks down the aisle. Said sister has very simple, mainstream musical tastes and would like the flaustist to play something most people will recognise; that is, popular music as opposed to classical. Does anyone have any suggestions for appropriate music that would sound good on the flute?

Curious George: Iliad
So with the upcoming movie Troy, I thought I'd get hold of an ebook of Homer's Iliad. The available translations are by Andrew Lang, Samuel Butler, Pope and the Earl of Derby. Any particular recommendations?

As Wal-Mart rolls out the new RFID labels on their products,
should we be concerned about how easy it is to track someone by the items they purchase? At the moment there is no guaranteed way to turn an RFID tag off after purchase (apart from 'sploding it), so consumers are carrying around a pretty decent (maybe) tracking device. Then again, maybe it's better to keep them...?

David Bowie is giving an Audi TT to whoever makes the best bootleg of his music.
The winning track will also be released as a single. Go on, monkeys!
Curious George: Philly attractions
We're going to be spending some time in Philadelphia early next year (me, husband and kidlet) and although I spent a weekend in South Jersey a couple of years ago I don't know the area at all. Any suggestions of places to go/eat/take photos/watch the locals? It'll be midwinter, unfortunately, and we'll have an almost-two year old with us.

Charting meme spreadage, pass it on.
I initially submitted this page's URL only to kottke.org. Since then, I have simply sat back and watched my hit counter logs to see who has come to this site and when... there will be an analysis of this data, in combination with related data as is seen fit. Could be worth keeping an eye on. [Via waxy.]
