LA Weekly's "Where to Eat Now" list for GPS Devices
Long time no see everybody! I took the time to compile the "Where to Eat Now" list for use on GPS devices (at least on the TomTom) published by Jonathan Gold, Pulitzer prize winning food critic at the LA Weekly. See inside for link.

Curious George - New Years Traditions and Resolutions?
Happy New Year Monkeys! I am cooking up a big pot of black eyed peas and collard greens for luck and prosperity in the new year. And for resolutions am pledging to drink less, do a better job of marketing myself, get more consulting jobs and, *gulp*, make more money.
What sort of interesting cultural/personal rituals are you performing (besides getting smashed tonight) and if you don't mind sharing, what are your resolutions?

Curious George - Any Angelenos have the democratic debates?
I'm gonna try to cut together a little political viral video and would love to get my hands on high quality video of the recent democratic debates. Does anyone know of a source on the net to download full resolution (720x480) quicktimes of the debates, or has anyone out there taped or tivo'ed the debates in the greater Los Angeles area who would let me either copy/borrow what you recorded? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

The monkey he got drunk and sat on the elephant's trunk...
I'm kind of fussy about my bananas and tend to throw away ones that have gone slightly spotty. Doing a bit of googling I came up with the following, *hic*, use for those over-ripe 'nanners.

Do you know the way to San Jose?
I found this googling for map images for an animation I am going to do in after effects. Wow. Maps of every age, location and description.

Plants for a Future
I was poking around wikipedia reading up on native Inca cuisine when I stumbled across this site. It's a searchable database of underutilized edible, medicinal, and otherwise useful plant species.

Curious George - Best iTunes Companion Programs?
I am specifically looking for a os x program than will let me edit my playlists with more ease that with iTunes (global edits, etc.) but was also wondering if anybody has any neat suggestions to make our iTunes and iPod lives any easier. I did a search on mofi and it appears that this topic hasn't been covered here, but if I missed anything, my appy-polo-logies.
Any cool iPod/iTunes helper/companion program suggestions?
And since this question is posed for all of the monkeys out there, you might as well list both mac as well as windows options.

Celaphopodfilter: More Giant Killer Squid
"On deck, a fisherman lurches forward as his rod dips seaward. Another fisherman is jerked against the rail, then another. It can only be the same bizarre denizen that has been turning up in large numbers throughout Southland waters: Dosidicus gigas, a.k.a. Humboldt, or jumbo, squid. It is a colossal cephalopod that reaches 7 feet long, can weigh more than 100 pounds, and jets through the water at speeds up to 25 mph."

germy data drives
Artificial DNA with encoded information can be added to the genome of common bacteria, thus preserving the data.
You guys remember those old spy films where they fished a dot of microfilm off the femme fatal's beauty mark. I imagine that with this new technology the retrevial of data will be a bit more, shall we say, personal.

Curious George: Ayahuasca
I've been considering going to South America to take part in an Ayahuasca ceremony for some time now. I can do all sorts of linky-linkies but anyone who knows how to do an internet search can find out what Ayahuasca is, and those who's knowledge I am seeking will not need any links.
What I am wondering is how to contact underground groups that are holding guided Ayahuasca ceremonies in my home town area (greater Southern California).

"You are all lucky boys and girls, however old you are, because tonight "Pee-wee's Playhouse" comes back to TV. As part of its Adult Swim franchise, the Cartoon Network will begin airing the show's original 45 episodes, which ran over five seasons of Saturday mornings on CBS from 1986 to 1991."

Curious George - Where should I go?
I've got about a month and a week starting in early August off from work and was considering a trip. I'm thinking Europe as I have never traveled that side of the pond but am open to alternate ideas.

Monk Magazine
I was perusing the front page when I thought of the shenanigans of a couple of guys who got tired of the rat race, hit the road in a beat up mobile home with their cats and created a magazine.

Political George - How do I get past the gate keepers in DC?
Rancho Calamari Productions is starting up a new documentary project and we'd like to get interviews with a bunch of mucky-mucks in Washington DC, but I can't seem to get past their "people" in their offices. Anyone have experience in this?
