Bush Invades Iran in June and things don't go as planned? What do you think life is going to be like in this country if Iran doesn't fold like Iraq does and in fact, could quite possibly destroy the oil fields in Saudi Arabia, launch missles against southern Europe and Israel and invade Iraq with thousands of very capable and well-equipped soldiers and equipment? Feel free to extropolate. This is a 'what if', not a probability. Remember that Iran actually has a capable air force whereas Iraq did not.

Curious Monkey: Wi-Fi Wang Fu I've got a wi-fi router (D-Link DI-624)and I was wondering if this is possible: Can I plug this thing into my laptop and use the antenna to boost signals from outside sources to my laptop? The only other alternative seems to be to get a cantenna and a wi-fi card with a plug in for the cantenna. Any ideas? Thoughts? Off-color jokes?

Curious Monkey: Shared Houses vs. Apartments I've lived in a couple of shared houses since 1986, with various ups and downs. On one hand, I've been lucky enough to be in a situation where my monthly outlay for rent is far below what others might pay in a rental situation, or even a home ownership situation. Currently I live in a five-bedroom two story turn of the century arts-and-crafts style bungalow in Seattle and pay $150.00 a month. There are minuses, of course; getting some housemates to clean up after themselves can be a bit frustrating, but all in all it's a pleasant experience with a caring owner that does a pretty good job of keeping the place in serviceable shape. What's your story? Would you ever consider house sharing? What would be your ideal situation?

Thought For a new PolyFilter I've noticed a need to discuss politics here, yet also that the topic itself is, understandably, very touchy these days. I like the crowd here on Monkeyfilter and that, most especially that they are more civilized and thoughtful than on sites like 'Fark, 'Metafilter', etc. What I would like to do is put together a site where *civil* discourse is encouraged and welcomed and negative discussion is discouraged. This from someone who has, admitedly, engaged in some negative conversations in the past. My problem is that my html skills are kind of rusty and I would need some help. Anyone interested or do they have any suggestions? I would like to hear from any and all interested parties. My intent is to create something like 'The Boston Commons' for the internet.
