Donnie Darko for Dummies
Salon spills and spoils everything on the newly released Director cut of cult-hit Donnie Darko. [requires watching annoying ad] "So if you haven't seen "Darko" and don't want the film spoiled, don't read any further. (The publishers of Salon have asked me to note that instead of reading you might consider blindly flipping through the next six pages and clicking on all the ads.)"

Curious George: RSS
Ehrm, am I the only one who reads MonkeyFilter through an RSS reader? I often get strange errors in the RSS feed. Wrong linkage, or just malformed posts.
Take for example the html from the RSS of the previous post:

Afraid of dentists?
De-sensitize yourself from the comfort of your own chair by listening to these dentistry sounds.
Start with some gentle suction [MP3] followed by a dry drill [MP3]. Continue with a high speed wet drill [MP3] and finally get used to the horrendous sounds of removing tartar [MP3].
[webpage in German, but they make the same sounds over there. NSFW when your co-workers don't like dentists.]
Okay, you may rinse now.

Do Not Call
Still bugged by telemarketers, even though you're on a 'Do Not Call' registry?
Try this script!
This script creates an imbalance in the conversation between the marketer and the consumer. It is this imbalance, most of all, that makes telemarketing successful. The EGBG Counterscript attempts to redress that balance.
Print and put next to your phone!

Scan your records
These guys scanned old records with a laser and used a software program to get pristine audio from old and scratched 78 rpm records and wax cylinders.
Mmm, I could have used this to rip my record collection before I sold all of them recently.
There is also a (not related to this research) commercial laser record player on the market and it's even on sale. Only $4980 for a demo model.

Art or Bio terrorism?
Steve Kurtz was already suffering from one tragedy when he called 911 early in the morning to tell them his wife had suffered a cardiac arrest and died in her sleep. The police arrived and, cranked up on the rhetoric of the "War on Terror," decided Kurtz's art supplies were actually bioterrorism weapons.
