Tell me what to like, O' djinni! The eternal dilemma: finding new music you'll like without having to listen to scads of crap...

... but MusicPlasma makes it better. Cuter and more intuitive than Gnod, MP serves as a nice adjunct to IUMA and Epitonic (as well as wonderfully diverse world of music blogs) for people (like you and me) looking for something nice to listen to. Adjunct Curious George: What are you listening to lately? Me? The Jane Anchor. They are so good it makes my lungs hurt.

  • Gnod link got fungoed, here's one that works
  • ... and, obviously, "adjunct" is the Fes Word of the Day (or "FWD", pronounced "fuh-WAD")
  • .
  • What are you listening to lately? Erasure!
  • ...and, even more obviously, I'm a doubleposting f**khead. Good lord. Delete at your convenience, Monkeybashi.
  • HEM
  • It's a great site, just been done before.
  • I must have missed it, because I nicked the link this morning out of an AskMefi thread. Anyway, thanks Wolof for pointing it out, and sorry everyone.
  • Adjunct, however, will remain the FWD.
  • Search term is "musicplasma". I remain, sir, your devoted adjunct, etc.
  • What are you listening to lately? My old Run-DMC vinyl. Born to rock around the clock!
  • My uh-DIDAS!
  • Xiu Xiu. Noise, violence and gay sex! What a combination. !!!. Funk, politics and drugs! What a combination. Del Rey. Drums, guitars and... forget it.
  • What are you listening to lately? Jimmy Smith. Awwww yeah.
  • Jimmy Smith. Very decent.
  • I'm listening to Devendra Banhart a lot. Messing around I put the Beatles into Music Plasma and it came up with some guy I've never heard of, Warren Zevon, but according to their halo rating system he's bigger than Neil Young...
  • Warren Zevon Awooo!
  • Lawyers, Guns & Monkey.
  • I do think 'fungoed' is a handsome word, Fes! Am personally inclined more to regard it as a euphemism rather than as descriptive baseball terminology.
  • I really like that Scissor Sisters cover of Franz Ferdinand. It's great and so different from the original.
  • Steve Albini. Big Black, Rapeman, Shellac.
  • boo radley, you've made me very sorry about your discs not making it out during the first MoFi CD Swap.
  • TMBG, Soul Coughing, Weezer, Beck, Eels, Great Big Sea, Morphine, Cowboy Mouth --- my old stomping sounds.
  • WOXY the future of rock and roll.
  • I think I'm finally crossing the threshold into Out of Touch Guy. Quite a few of these bands I've not heard of, much less heard. Southern Culture on the Skids is about as off the beaten path as I get these days.
  • What are you listening to lately? The Hafler Trio or Nurse With Wound when I'm in front of the computer and Morbid Angel when I go to the grocery store.
  • Yay! Hem. Love me some Hem. I've seen them a few times (usually at Southpaw in Brooklyn) and a few weeks ago at Madison Square Park (not Garden; big difference) for a free outdoors show. Lovely stuff (and it doesn't hurt that the whole bad--there are, what, 400 people on stage?--are good-lookin.'
  • Currently running in Winamp: Spoon, Guided by Voices, See Saw, Broadcast, The Muffs, The Reigning Sound, Gene Austin, Bishop Allen, Polyphonic Spree, Of Montreal, Macha, Al Green, Kelley Stoltz, Summers Hymns, Mule, Nashville Pussy, Tom T. Hall, The Pogues, Modest Mouse, Eddie Arnold, The Flecher Henderson Orchestra, Pat Martino, Black Sabbath, Frank Sinatra, Neutral Milk Hotel, Bootsey X And The Lovemasters, Clarence Carter, Aretha Franklin, The Jam.
  • Also, I just notice's Hem's web site was done by Sohrab Habibion who used to be (still is? I dunno) in the band Edsel. Neat. Did their album art, too.
  • NOBODY IS BIGGER THAN NEIL YOUNG. At least not Warren Zevon, good god, no no, it's not so!
  • And I am listening to nothing but Top 40 radio hits as part of my lifelong anthropological study of the bizarre courting and mating rituals of your primitive species. It's all so wrong, and yet I can't look away.
  • Chromeo. Can't say much since I only have two tracks, but I like them.
  • On Winamp at the moment: Bauhaus, Skinny Puppy, The Genitorturers, The Dead Kennedys, The Revolting Cocks, Pussy Tourette, Lords of Acid, Sisters of Mercy, T.S.O.L. • What are you listening to lately? ueh
  • Their rating system is a bit dodgy at the best of times. It rates Explosions in the Sky as more popular than Justin Timberlake.
