In "Something Awful staggers back, well, not quite."

Short: Something Awful makes fun of the Internet. Long: A lot of what the site Something Awful (SA) is about is making fun of various subcultures on the Internet. Furries, goths, anime fans, Fundamentalist Christians, Scientologists. One of the most notable ways is the Awful Site of the Day, in which a site was selected for ridicule. People who read the site, and posted on the forums, called Goons, would descend on the site in mass, and cause havoc through postings to associated message boards and guestbooks. Even if they didn't, the SA would usually mock the site with great skill, much to the consternation of above groups. This usually led to angry emails, and mocking of said emails. I have mixed feelings about SA. In many ways, it was great to see pompous and self righteous groups be taken down a peg. Especially the furries. But many a time they picked on people who really didn't deserve it. People who stayed in their corner of the Internet, and although strange and creepy, didn't really bother anyone. It's the difference between making fun of a hypocritical Christian, and making fun of a bum on the street. SA crossed that line many a time.

I hear hurricanes ablowing. I know the end is coming soon. I fear rivers over flowing. I hear the voice of rage and ruin.
