In "Curious George:"

rebarbative.

In "Curious George: the Best of 2004."

Movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Book: Oblivion, David Foster Wallace Album: The Pretty Toney Album, Ghostface Killah And since the only things I really like are books, music and movies (and it's quite rare that I actually like movies) I don't think there was anything else this year that I liked enough for it to be my favourite.

In "Curious George: Short story writers"

david foster wallace or lemony snicket (though i would be prepared to settle for daniel handler).

In "We're taking over the world"

No armed insurgent is fully equipped without a copy of Let's Get Free by the Dead Prez. Not only do they want to kill the president, revolutionise the education system and smash capitalism, they also eat tofu, consult the I Ching on all matters of importance and want to make love to your mind, baby.

Zanshin: I wanted to be a dolphin, but likewise failed. Later I wanted to Understand The Universe, but then after learning more physics than was good for me I began to realise that there is only so long one can spend calculating nuclear scattering cross sections, and I also began to have Godel-related doubts about the plausibility of Grand Unified Theories and other doubts about their ability to be at all satisfying in the way that, say, a good shit is. Now I am unemployed.

In "Curious George: Is the U.S. Government Unique?"

In Australia, our elections are run by an independent, transparent and widely respected electoral commission, and everybody is fairly sure that the government we have is the one we voted for (not that it makes the fuckers much better than Bushco, but at least we deserve 'em.)

In "Enquiring George: Who's the Most Overrated in Show Biz?"

moved movie

Sofia Coppola. Lost In Translation is the only moved I have felt compelled to walk out of halfway through.

In "Curious George: post-election soundtrack."

I've been listening to Mos Def's Black on Both Sides (don't start me on his new album though), Let's Get Free by Dead Prez, and DJ /rupture's Gold Teeth Thief mixtape (which can be downloaded in its entirety here) because they remind me of the things I like about America, and that Americans are not all bad.

In "The Death Page."

no connection at all

In "THE BIG FAT THREAD FOR THE ELECTIONS"

something strange went wrong with that last bit. please don't let it distract you from voting.

kittens? puppies? whichever you choose, a quadruped still gets in. why not stand up for who you are and what you really believe in? why not put your monkey where your mouth is? why not choose nader chimpanzine? the_bone: i am not quite as backward as the island of the day before.

shinything: as a non-american i must say that i have no insight at all into this one

In "Nongregarious George"

a few people have commented on the difficulty of dating loners, so i'd just like to mention that dating is not very easy for the loners either (except with other loners, but when would you ever meet them?)

In "Claim to Fame"

The best I can manage is that my mother was at high school with Olivia Newton-John (who used to be picked up from school by her older boyfriend, Baby John Burgess [most famous as a gameshow host, for non-Aussies]). Oh, and a friend of mine used to have an 808 that was once owned by Pseudo Echo. languagehat, do you realise that the fact you once spoke with Borges has just relegated everything I ever have done or will do to a state of painful inadequacy? I hope you're happy.

beeza: it was my lack of computational intercultural skills that were the problem. I just looked in Unicode and it all made perfect sense. If only computers spoke Esperanto.

thanks fuyugare

beeza: thanks for the tip, but your comment came up as "a with a hat, Euro symbol, end double quote mark, Alt + 0151" on my screen so I'm not sure how to interpret it.

In "The Female Labia Enhancement Centre"

They also seem to be affiliated with Mammary Enhancement, the Vagina Institute and the ever-so-slightly troubling Female Pumping website. I have no idea what universe these people live in.

I started to do some homework on this (firstly Network Solutions are just the registrar -* the domain is owned by Network Processing Services LLC of Arizona) but then discovered that the whois heavy lifting and dot-joining had already been done over here. *can anyone tell me how to write an em dash round here? &8212 and &mdash don't seem to work. ditto for tags on superscript.
