When he was a child, he saw a man being shot to death in an airport. He grew up, traveled back in time, and ended up being that very man, shot to death in the airport. And the army of the 12 monkeys didn't actually release the plague that ended the world; they just freed some monkeys from the zoo.
Glad to see the list included 3 of Philip K. Dick's trippiest books, but I'd also have to add:
Flow My Tears The Policeman Said
Ubik
Martian Time-slip
The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch
Radio Free Albemuth
...the list goes on and on...
brokevespa: Anyone pick up volume 13 of McSweeneys which is edited by Chris Ware of Jimmy Corrigan fame?
My copy arrived in yesterday's mail. Looked at only as a beautifully-made artifact, the book is delightful, starting with Ware's exquisitely drafted comics on the fold-out cover. As an anthology, it appears to cover all the bases you'd want covered: starting with Crumb and Clowes and ranging over a nice spectrum of current work. Highly recommended.

Aimee Mann. Moderately famous (especially since the soundtrack of "Magnolia"), but she deserves even greater success.
