In "Lucky for him, the camera was there"

For one, the comments on the page are some of the most idiotic I have ever seen on a site...and that's one hell of an accomplishment. I also felt it was amazing that he wasn't beaten (especially when he told the guy to calm down) or had the cops called when he pulled this shit. He could have easily been arrested for trespassing at any of the businesses he went to. What the hell were they (he and the camera man) thinking?

In "Curious George:"

lol @ fish tick.

In response to the "LaGatta threads" comment: she self-linked repeatedly, and was immediately informed that self linking was a no-no. Her first posts were deleted for this reason. She self linked again, and had the temerity to suggest that we "look fast while Our Fearless Leader is otherwise occupied.", so that it might avoid deletion or reprimand. Then she posted again, seemingly to argue the point of the rules that were established well before she registered. I think it was her flaunting of the guidelines and haughty attitude that make the difference.

Hands down, pho. Vietnamese beef noodle soup served with basil, chili pepper, beansprouts, lime and more. The raw beef is sliced thin and placed in the soup prior to eating, sometimes at the table. I crave it right now, thanks. I also love Chyren's choice as well; there is hardly anything better than tom yum goong.

=D Modern perversions through crochet. My ex-girlfriend taught my friends and I to crochet about 10 years ago. She was a master, deftly turning out garrish scarves and warm wooly hats in a few hours. There was an explosion of crochet in our circle, and there were some serious atrocities created, but none were as beautiful and atrocious as these fine, fine works. These are incredible. I am in awe of her patience. Maybe I can call her up(the ex) and get her to help me figure this style out...

In "Curious George: Music Rights"

I was just reading an fascinating interview with a documentary filmaker, Marilyn Agrelo, about this very subject. It is here. It doesn't really have the answer to the question, but it illustrates the hoops through which some have jumped to clear the music (the 'everybody dance now' instance is jaw-dropping) that appears in indie films. There is a follow-up blog-post here, with what may be slightly useful advice. Good luck, and if it's possible, I'm sure we would love to see the completed work.

In "Baywatch gone awry."

Sascha has his moments, but not many. Borat is his only consistantly funny character. I am glad to hear he crashed this stupid Hollywood bitch's dumb-ass "ceremony". BTW, thank God for the Sanctity of Marriage.

In "The ghost village of Imber"

There is a ghost town similar to this one in Colorado that I used to pass all the time when I was moving. It was somewhere between Breckinridge and Leadville, I believe, and it was abandoned when the local mine went dry. Never got a chance to go in, but god, I wanted to, and still do. I always have a special place in my heart for these haunting shells of towns. If you like ghost towns, Colorado has many, many of them, especially in the mountains. Some are really very old and accessible only by hike, bike, or exceptionally sturdy vehicles. Sweet post.

In "How to project an image of the outside world onto a wall in your room"

Yeah, when I was in college, I had aluminum foil over my windows to keep my room cool and dark. I would wake up with a vivid projection of the backyard on the wall opposite the window. The myriad tiny holes that were inherent in the foil made it happen. Just like a camera obscura.

In "A surprisingly heart-warming story about Huey Lewis."

Along with kimdog and middleclasstool, I also loved the Huey when I was a young teen. The "Fore" tour was my first concert at age 12. My younger brother is retarded. I'm definitely taking him if I get the chance. We can bond. =) I wonder what Huey thinks of being "the retarded Bruce Springsteen". Thanks, kitfisto.

Ah, meatspace. The greasiest space around. I wish I could respond intelligently, but you see what I came up with.

In "Stacking the Deck"

MonkeyFilter: Crazy Bastards on a Mission I think that's my new band name. CBoaM Rocks!!

In "Curious, George: Boys keep out"

I have learned two things in this thread: IUDs aren't horrible painful death-makers, and YMMV means Your Milage May Vary.

In "I Am Curious; Bubble."

lol.

In "These lines jiggle"

you're absolutely right, peacay. At least that's what I told my boss. XD

In "I Am Curious; Bubble."

Thanks for the recipe, Alnedra! And amazingly simple to boot. You have saved me a 2 hour trip to my old college town.

In "Curious, George: Digitizing my vinyl music"

This perhaps? :P Honestly, I have had some great success just running the stereo out to the computer, realtime recording and cleaning up the sound with old school Cool Edit (or Audacity for the open source, not-gonna-spend-$200 crowd). I put a bunch of my grandma's old vinyl on cds for her and it took a few days of letting my machine record while I was watching TV but I managed to get some really good MP3s that I thought sounded better than the records. I'm not a audiophile by any means, so that's probably the slow, sloppy way...

In "I Am Curious; Bubble."

Oooh I haven't had this stuff for a couple years... The sushi place I used to eat lunch at had this, but called it Boba tea. I drank it without pearls for a long time but eventually had to try em. Blech. Too big and weird, and not a bit of taste. I wish I had a place in this town that had it. The closest I can get is Thai tea, but it's too strong and just not quite it. fatoudust, it's just really tasty, slightly spiced(?) tea with something milky in it. Cool, satisfying, and usually served by cute asians. :)
