a national news trend? maybe, but i'd hardly count one "OMG i faked finding a finger in my food" (the wendy's story got national attention, but no one tried to verify that a digit was missing from any employees beforehand) and then a subsequent "i found a finger in ice cream, from the same shop where an employee had a finger cut off and reported it to the manager" story reported on a wilmington, CT local TV station as a national trend.
it's just two food and finger related news items. when we get three or more in national papers/TV , i'll call it a trend.
The time-shared facilities would offer private spaces for relaxation, meditation, or erotic games and parties. One such an idea is a see-through bed floating in a lush, hidden tropical pond.
because when designing your utopia with a focus on young people, the first order of business is to figure out where to have your erotic games!
js, don't forget that hammer shilled for taco bell, too. i remember an ad with him & his entourage floating down from atop a building using their voluminous pants (while eating burritos, i guess?).
isn't the most useful and not-explained-beforehand part of college learning to do stuff for yourself, like budgeting your time, clothes washing, cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, etc.? it's a time to grow up and learn how to take responsibility for yourself, and if you fuck up at least you've got a safety net of some sort-- your family and the counseling services at the college to lean on.
what i think is sad is that this service will enable a certain group of grads to complete part of college- getting a degree-- without finishing the "learn how to be a functional adult and do things that suck but that adults must do" section. imagine not knowing how to do basic things like "mop" or "organize a pile of papers" or "do a load of laundry," cause mom did it from 0-18 years and dormaid did it for 18-22. now you're on your own for the first time and don't know how to wash a dish. that's sort of pathetic.
minda 25 says: On topic: I think it's a good idea to limit, but not eliminate, kids' access to junk food in schools. The government is trying too hard to be Mom to everyone; I think it's time it backed off and let parents be parents again.
the kids buying the candy bars and mountain dews for breakfast in my high school certainly weren't the kids who had parents who, well, parented. remove the junk food machines and the kids who get $5 and a kick out the door each morning will have no choice but to eat more healthily.
I saw this guy play at CMJ a few years back. I always thought it was a one-off goof show...thanks, I guess, for proving me wrong?
Although now I have his theme song stuck in my head: the theme to "Beverly Hills Cop" with the words, "I am Johnny Mcgovern and I am the gay pimp and I am here to sing about sick gay shit" repeated 20x.
(oh and yes this is my first comment; I've been reading for a bit. Hi.)
