Somebody's read MacBeth one too many times.

...I know that they are doing some innovative work at Columbia (NYC) in terms of studying the internet as a social/educational/cultural influence, and they do have a fine law school. I don't know if you could use those two intersects to create the kind of program/thesis you're looking for.

In "Speaking of assassination. "

You have to realize what kind of publication Exile is--check out some of their back issues. These are the (American expat)folks who used to have a weekly column rating local (Russian) prostitutes, and whose staff threw a "cream" pie made out of horse sperm (I kid you not) at a New York Times journalist stationed there that they didn't like (you can probably read about that in the archives too). But yes, not funny even for a Bush hater like myself (I repect the office if not the current occupant), plus it misses the point that George Bush is just the front--his policies are generated by the men (and woman) behind the curtain like Cheney, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft et al.

Please don't be deterred by long lines, people! The one I was in this morning (150+) moved rather quickly (I was out in 25 minutes). If you're in Ohio, please don't be deterred by partisan challengers (there will be one from each permitted at each polling site as of this morning--the earlier ruling forbidding them was reversed).

....And so it begins: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6364287/ (a state-by-state, regularly updated graphic of voter-complaint calls by state. as of 10:13am, Florida, DC and South Carolina are in the red.)

In "Curious George Votes."

Thanks for all the comments--and there were 200+ in line at my polling site at 8:45am, but I was out by 9:15am (we only have a few local races and no legislative items on the ballot this year). I agree with meredithea--it was exciting to see that many people. (Muttered complaints by people walking down to the bottom of the line included, "damn politically conscious district!" and "c'mon people, it's only [non-swing state]." I hope people in the other "non-contested" states this year are not deterred from coming out to vote, because it's the Senators and House Reps. who are supposedly keeping checks and balances in place regardless of who wins the Presidency, and my vote may be pretty meaningless at the Electoral College level, but it will matter when it comes to chosing Congresspeople.

In "Kerry gets an endorsement he might not want."

If I were Kerry (or on his staff), I might want to be arguing about now that, due to Bush's admitted disinterest in catching Osama post 2001 (the infamous "don't think about him much" comment, and the shift of resources to Iraq), the jackass is still around releasing tapes, possibly signalling his network, and continuing to mock the pain and suffering of the families of those killed on 9-11. I would be arguing that ASAP.
