My three: The Beatles - 1962-1966 -- Yeah, it's a compilation album, but it was my first Beatles album. And the first album where I took notice of songwriting. The Clash - London Calling -- opened my eyes to the very concept of protest in song. Tom Waits - The Asylum Years -- yeah, another compilation album, but this is the album that led me to understand and appreciate personal expression and individualism in song. So... Pop, Protest and Personal Expression.

It may be a year too early, but my son was a huge fan of the Nelvana produced Little Bear tv series. I'm sure they'd be available as DVDs too. Basically a series of episodes that revolve around a little bear (hence the title) child, and his friends, who are of differing species. What I really like about it is that they are all, well, Very Nice. Without being cloyingly so. They all live in a fairly peaceful world, where people are nice to each other. Actually, anything I've seen by Nelvana, I've appreciated. Another TV things I loved (as did my son) is Old Bear and Friends.

In "Help, Too Much iPod or Not Enough? "

If you want all your music with you, then go big, get the 40GB. (I assume that 500+ CDs would be more than 20GB, otherwise I'd say go with the 20GB.) However, if you are willing and content to only have a sampling of your music collection with you, then the Mini would suit perfectly. With playlists and smartlists in iTunes, it is super easy to pick and choose what music you want on your iPod. It is also very easy to switch in new music and remove music you get tired of. I have a 20GB iPod. I have over 20GB of music in my collection. I was worried I made a mistake not getting the 40GB, but once I discovered playlists and smartlists, I realised that, in fact, an iPod Mini would likely have worked just fine for me. Still, I'm glad I have the 20GB version.

In "Firefox 1.0 is out"

The only complaint I have with Firefox is the various extensions that don't allow themselves to be updated when I install new(est) versions of the browser. I see where skrik links to a page that allows you to roll-back the version number. It's a handy fix (I guess) if you are aware of it, but it shouldn't be necessary. I wonder how many people who are new to Firefox will give up on it the first time they update and find that some of their extensions no longer function.

In "Is censorship Evil?"

"Hey, annekenstein, you're mismanaging your multiple IDs. Remember to login and out next time you astroturf a thread!" I don't know what this means, exactly. As far as I know, I have one MomkeyFilter ID, which I use on two computers. What does "astroturf a thread" mean? What am I being accused of?

What Dreadnought said. Next issue.

"censoring the web" and "being pathetically slow to update current event imagaes" is not the same thing. Next issue.

I am a huge fan of J.River's MediaCentre v.10. It's exactly what I want in a player. I'm really surprised that more people don't seem to mention it. (this is my first post, by the way)
