In "It's happened again. "

Something I noticed, and which makes me a bit more sad than the event itself, is that CNN.com and other news organizations seem to consider the Michael Jackson trial and the Terri Schiavo thing more important; more news worthy. Those priorities and their supposed newsworthiness seem pathetically missaligned with the rest of the events in the news, including this shooting.

In "TV Turnoff Week"

I'm with HuronBob... I can shut that TV off for a week, no problem, I've got TiVo. TV is probably a destructive part of society, but that presupposes we would do something "better" with our time if it didn't exist. Before TV there was radio, before that books and conversation. There are certainly those who could argue that conversation or social gathering is more productive than watching TV, but people in groups tend to be just as dumb as people alone at home in front of a TV. TV's negative or positive influence is directly related to the type of person tuning in.

In "Take the lesson from the Schiavo case."

I have told my family and friends many times to let me go if this type of situation presents itself. Since they tend to feel the same way about this that I do, I don't think it would be a problem. Difficult I'm sure, but I think they would cmply with my wishes. However, it certainly seems like a living will might be a good idea for just about everyone.

In "Application of the Socratic Method to elementary school"

This is a great method of teaching. More teachers should attempt to engage thier students in this way. Ask questions, provoke conversation and reasoned thought. Too much of education has become rote preperation for tests and not enough time is spent teaching children how to think and reason.

In "MC Frontalot"

now it's time for a little braggadocio while I swing my arms like ralph machio Few are as nerdcore as Mc FrontALot, but if you want more nerdcore hip-hop goodness, check out MC Chris, he's also very good. I recommend downloading all of MC ForntALot's songs. I did that a few months ago and the CD I made from them has been in constant rotation ever since. As cheesy as it is, the nature of the music is arguably more indicative of true hip-hop than the hip-pop that currently litters the airwaves and pop culture

In "The cross you bear"

Finally! a place to put my virtual holy artifacts.

In "Build your own office cube"

I recently purchased the entire set and put them in my cube. I set it up in a 4 cube configuration with no way out. 8 figures locked into an inescapable gray hellscape. Just like real life.... Mwahahaha! Everyone here loves them and a supervisor even suggested I rename them after people from our office, but that seems risky. Oh and I've worked in several cube farms. The walls vary in height and color (from gray to beige) but they do exist and the expressions on the faces of these toys can been seen in almost every one. And the stickers these things come with are hilarious. Almost all of them are real things I've seen posted in peoples' cubes. Also, this is my first post. I've been reading stuff here for a couple weeks and you seem to be some of the smartest monkeys to ever take part in this type of site.
