I consider myself to be a fairly well-educated and informed person, however, despite the efforts of well-intentioned Health Education teachers and the aid of diagrams in school textbooks, I didn't know where my "on button" was until I was 22 years old. If I hadn't felt so self-conscious about my personal bits, maybe things would have been different. This may be more of a cultural problem than an educational one.
2. It wasn't until I was an adult, reading about Fertility Awareness, that I understood that cervical mucus is a natural part of a woman's physiology. I always thought there was something wrong with me. It makes me really wonder how many women just assume they're having a yeast infection every month.
