Disney announces partnership with Chinese Communist Youth League
In an interesting "Capitalism meets Communism" moment, Disney Corp. will join forces with the Communist Youth League (aka the Junior Woodchucks' Chinese chapter) to bring the Gospel of Walt to the children of China. I wonder what Uncle Scrooge would make of that...
On the other hand, I guess that Disney will need all the help it can get, considering the competing entertainment available to those children.
Google oddity;
We all know that Google calculator can do silly things.
But what is this about?

Curious George: Dying peacefully?
Seeing the story on Janet Leigh's death it was written that she "died peacefully at home". This reminds me of concepts like dying of old age, and how old people in tribal cultures would go off to die. It got me to wondering: is it physiologically possible to "die peacefully"? Do the primal survival instincts just get turned off like a switch? Or can we pretty much count on a gasping struggle in those last seconds if we're not mercifully knocked out with anesthetics?
Americans--surprise--do abysmally in geography.
But thankfully, Canadians and British students aren't much better. Take the test. I got 100%! The test was administered by National Geographic. Here's the main story.
What would we like Microsoft to do for us?..."have Bill Gates send me a check for all the aggravation I've suffered"
is one way of dealing with it. "Naked Microsoft" is a more unorthodox way. Geeks around the world weight in on this most interesting subject...o yah, what would you do Monkeys?

Now this is a nefarious heist that appeals to my criminal sensibilities.
The Noise & The City
- I'm sitting at home listening to The Noise & The City and it's really great (think Autechre, The Future Sound Of London & the mellower, more musical side of Aphex Twin and you'll be heading in the right direction).

TNR shows that despite all of his talk, GW isn't much of a churchgoer
For (four) years we've discussed how much Christianity is supposed to influence GW Bush's policy... witness the "faith based initiatives" and the "valley of peace" references. As someone who grew up in the evangelical tradition, I fully recognize that GW's speed is chock-full of evangelical language and codewords("wonder working power"). But, what amazed me, is that GW doesn't even regularly attend church...
