My my, doesn't the time fly
Happy centenary!
-
Wow. One of the most momentous ideas in history, and no comments? The nascent spark that led to that which could destroy us. And what could save us-maybe. It doesn't seem quite right to say Happy Centenary, but my hat's off to Albert.

My hat's off to Albert kamus.

tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock relatively speaking, of course!

thanks anyway, polychrome, I appreciated the post.

K0 - K1 = 1/2 L/c2 v2 Thanks also to Bashi for the new superscript and subscript tags.

I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that Newtonian gravitational theory doesn't work on Mercury unless relative mass is used. Whoever posted that comment (in another thread, I forget which), thanks a bunch, dude. Like woah.

Glad you liked it; not an anniversary that deserved to go by unnoticed I thought.

goetter, is that the equation that is supposedly more "accurate" than e=mc
2? I remember reading something to the effect of, the famous equation that we're all familiar with was actually chosen as equation posterboy for its dramatic simplicity: that while true in an important sense, it applies only for a body at rest. But I could be wrong. -
Well obviously I guessed wrong on the superscript tag and I pressed post instead of preview. Wow.I just realized: it finally happened. I'm fifty and that was it: the very moment that you begin your long and bitter mental decline. Fifty- that's the age. Enjoy what little time you have.

It's the equation that actually appeared in the paper (or rather, the translation of the paper as posted. The original German [PDF] uses a slightly different notation. See the closing footnotes of the translation). E = mc2 summarizes a subsequent statement in the paper, but never appears in the paper itself. The tags that you want are SUP and SUB. My fault for not naming them.

But remember, it's not Einstein's equation. That's a fabrication of the Jew-controlled media. *scrubs browser cache with wire brush and bleach*

Those sneaky Jews. I'd be surprised if Al Gore didn't have something to do with it too! pass the bleach when you're done

Gotter, that link: wow. Just wow. Asimov's New Guide to Science, in the appendix there is a secton on Relativity which steps through the mathematics going from the Michelson-Morley experiment to the Fitzgerald equation to Einstein's working of the Lorentz equation into M'=M+e/c2 which leads naturally into e=MC2. Great reading. If you're interested in science but haven't looked at Asimov's New Guide to Science, I highly recommend taking a look. It is quite accessable.
