Curious George: iTunes 5 problem
I downloaded iTunes 5 yesterday, and now I can't view anyone else's shared music.
Their computer don't even show up on my iTunes. As a college student, this is absolute top priority. I've GOT to get this working. Everything worked fine before the update. Yes, 'look for shared music' is checked. When I fire up OurTunes I can't even connect to my own library. I have iTunes sharing enabled for my firewall, and even when I turn my firewall off the problem doesn't go away. I'm using a Mac, if that makes a difference. Any advise? Had anyone else had this problem?

update: turning off my firewall lets me view my own library through ourTunes.

Why not downgrade to whatever you had previously? Mac or Windows

I think iTunes sharing only works between the same version numbers, i.e., everyone else needs to upgrade before you can see their library again. Thats what happened at work, after the last round--someone sent out a company-wide email encouraging everyone to upgrade...
-
versiontracker pushes me to apple.com to download, so I can't downgrade to 4.9.
-
I had exactly the same problem after upgrading on my own computer. After upgrading all computers on the network everything started working again.

Ah. That is because I am stupid. But if you Google for "itunes 4.9" there are a few mirrors which still have the old version.
-
iTunes is the devil. That is all.

There's a new hint over at macosxhints.com that solves this exact problem. For some reason, you need to have 'Show Radio' checked in your preferences.

Sorry, that last post should have included this link.
