Ground control to Major Tom
ORBITER is a free flight simulator that goes beyond the confines of Earth's atmosphere.
Launch the Space Shuttle from Kennedy Space Center to deploy a satellite, rendezvous with the International Space Station or take the futuristic Delta-glider for a tour through the solar system - the choice is yours.

I do love my mac, but it's stuff like this that makes me pine for a Windows machine. Does anyone know if the newly announced pentium processor macs will be able to run OSX and windows ?
-
Apparently so, squid.
-
Meh. This is the ultimate Shuttle simulator...
-
I saw the phrase 'learning curve can be steep' and moved along. That's why I'm not an astronaut.
-
Well, the learning curve is only steep if you're wanting to REALLY fly around. If you just want to tool around and look at the pretty sights, it's not hard at all. There are various controls and autopilots that can fix almost anything you break. The really fun thing about it are all the fan-made add-ons. Fly a TIE fighter to the ISS. Or take the Whitestar on a trip around Saturn.
-
Downloading it as I type. Looking forward to it, too. Learning curve be damned; I'm going to crash it into the White House.
-
Damn, that's hard.
