Friendless Churches in Britain. Pictures, and information, on abandoned churches in Great Britain.

This one is half a mile up the road from where I live. Its tiny, and quite beautiful really.

  • "Visitors should remember not to shut inquisitive sheep in the church when they leave !" Wow. So many interpretations. A lovely site.
  • These are very beautiful, and haunting, but I wish that the webpage had more historical information, especially because many of these churches come from the period I study (c.1400-1800). I also like the sheep.
  • All these FPPs will be lost in time like... tears in the rain. Or maybe more like babes in the wood. Like sinners at the trump? Lost, anyway.
  • I should attend the lovely church near me more often.
  • Like replicants in the dystopian future.
  • Like monkeys trying to follow this meta-thread. Wonder what happened to Alnedra.
  • This church is on the drive between Christchurch and my in-laws' house. I noticed on the last trip that its sign had been taken down -- the church has always been left open during the day for passersby to stop in, but people had started vandalising the church and stealing, so they've essentially shut up shop. I'm not religious, but it's a lovely church and if it wasn't in the middle of nowhere I'd have gotten married in the grounds.
  • I was ill, BearGuy. But I'm a bit better today (^_^)
  • Good to hear. Good thing I decided to retrace my steps eh? Actually I heard there was fresh coffee back here. Perhaps the thread before this.
