Curious, George: SAS on a mac?
Do any monkeys have experience with using the statistical program SAS in osx? Before I go through with loading this and shelling out the dough for Filemaker, I wanted to see if it's worth it. Or is it time for me to switch back?
Also, is switching between filemaker and access a simple thing? I really like my dear old powerbook, but seeing as how my future will be SASarific, I need it to work simply.

My father has been running SAS using virtual PC for years, ever since SAS stopped upgrading its mac version. Works fine, even if it is a bit of a kludge.

Wow, thanks, sfred. I don't know why I didn't know such a thing existed.

Avoid Filemaker like the plague. The last experience I had with about a year ago was bad - very bad. The data file would up unrecoverably corrupted. Depending on your needs, I would look into either MySQL with some sort of appropriate front-end software or possibly Firebird or even PostgreSQL. These are not exactly easy-to-use software packages, but they won't mangle your data the way Filemaker does.
