Randy "Biscuit" Turner was found dead in his house yesterday.
Artist, punk, skater, beloved local freak. What more to say? His skate punk band The Big Boys was hugely influential.
The show of his art from 7pm tonight (Friday) at Pedazo Chunk, 2009 S. First St., Austin, TX will now be an informal wake. The work will also be shown tomorrow (Saturday) from 2-7. If you would like to see more of the old Austin punk scene including the Big Boys, the Dicks, and the Butthole Surfers, have a look here (and think kindly on Dixon Coulbury, who himself passed away a few weeks ago).

That's very strange timing, and very sad. He was a talented man. I wonder what the cause of death was?

. !! *sigh* Thanks for posting patita

Well, according to the update at the main Austin Chronicle site (link will change after this week): 'As of 11:30am Friday morning, the medical examiner's initial autopsy report attributes cause of death to "gastrointestinal hemorrhage due to cirrhosis associated with chronic [alcohol] abuse."'

I'm just glad that there are folks here who will read and care, sugarmilktea.

How sad! Uggh... and how strange is right - the timing, and that the writer of the Austin Chronicle piece was who led to the discovery of his body. Seeing the cover photo, I can almost sense the internal chaos he was surely enduring...

my condolences

cirrhosis. That be a damn shame. That's heavy drinkin'.
-
my condolences ActuallySettle, did you really mean to post that link, because you also posted it here.

Here's the local daily newspaper article. Don't know how long the link will be good.

. MAXIMUMROCKNROLL has a nice photo on their frontpage, in memoriam.

The Austin Chronicle ran the rest of the interview this week. It's a great read.

Thanks again patita! This is a great read. I'm glad that Marc Savlov was able to do such a wonderful job with the interview/photos/helping to arrange the art showing, when he did. I still can't get over the bizarre timing of everything. I'm gonna save this one...
