The Baldwin Project "seeks to make available online a comprehensive collection of resources for parents and teachers of children. Our focus, initially, is on literature for children that is in the public domain in the United States. This includes all works first published before 1923."
  • *rubs both pairs of hands gleefully* Works by Padraic Colum, Joseph Jacobs, Seamus Macmanus, Charles Kingsley, Edith Nesbit, Marryat,Andrew Lang, Kate Douglas Wiggins, Frank R Stockton, and one in progress by Ernest Thompson Seton (Wild Animals I Have Known) as well as a host of others on history, folklore, etc. A varied selection, some non-fiction. Interesting to see so many by non-American authors when one might expect to find Tom Sawyer or Peck's Bad Boy. The Baroness Emmuska Orczy, creator of the Scarlet Pimpernel, has a title (Old Hungarians Fairy Tales) I've not seen before and into which I plan to poke my nose -- thanks, dt118!!! And ))) to ye!!!
  • DT118, well done! I'm diving right now into the Wonder Book of Horses!
  • When I saw the title, I thought it was a project to list all of the Hollywood Baldwin brothers. I'm a little disappointed.
  • HA! That's what I thought too! I was also disappointed.
  • How do ye like them Baldwin apples? This seems as good a place as any to point out they were also called Pecker apples ... ... and here we thought anima(u)l husbandry was appalling
