WildFinder from the WWF, allows you to find maps, pictures, and other info on any one of 30,000 species (the Takin, say), or lists of species within a selected ecoregion (say, South East Tibet Shrub and Meadows.)

A database of species might not seem that interesting, but the information is so copious and the species names and details so curious, I found browsing irresistible.

  • I should warn you, however, that the 'images' links for each species merely do a Google image search on the latin name, which is a bit of a cop-out.
  • Plus! A google image search! Check out this little sad face!
  • WHATCHOO GONNA DO, BROTHER, WHEN TAKINOMANIA GOES WILD ON YOU?!?!?!?!?!?! ... Oh, sorry. I forgot they lost the lawsuit.
  • Haha - Tenacious Pettle wins (although it was pre-aranged and the folding chair was made of foam)
  • A useful site for discovering what critterts live where. And I especially like your last link. Thanks, and many bananas to ye, plegmund.
  • I question it's accuracy telling me that I can find coyotes and elk in Seattle. Oh, I suppose they might have a couple at the zoo...
  • You'll find elk in nearby North Bend. And coyote occasionally make it downtown.
