GSAVE!
God save us all.
-
Yeah.. I guess the war against terror has been won, huh? fuckin' neocons. Change the terminology and you change reality.. christ they are out to lunch. This is gonna make the ditto-head fighting keyboarders pretty angry. Another thing to bash 'em over the head with.
-
...we are in sorrier shape than anyone might previously have imagined. That's really saying something.
-
Ah yes, another new slogan is just what we need to make those terrorist scum beg for mercy. I always liked this one (I forgot where that originally came from ... just found a copy somewheres).
-
Well, naturally. Cause the war on terrorists was Mission Accomplished, don'tcha know.
-
WARFAIL. We Are Really Fucked on Account of our Idiot Leaders.
-
Support the TWAT! And his war on terror!
-
I think the decision to switch terminology shows just how desperate things are for the WH. This is a definite air of rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic feel about it.
-
I meant has a definite air Stan, wouldn't that actually be WARFOAOOIL? -I still like it though
-
F U B A R
-
Yeah, but 'WARFOAOOIL' doesn't spell anything. Now, if you wanted to go for WAR FOR OIL (We Are Responsible For Our Reprehensible, Outrageous, Idiotic Leaders) then you might be on to something.
-
But I notice that WARFOAOOIL is really just WAR FOR OIL said with a drunken Texas drawl.
-
Wolof, report to room 101 now!
-
Seems to me that "the global war on terrorism" is a misnomer, since terrorism isn't really something that can be "won", per se (akin to the "war on drugs"). I think "the global struggle against violent extremism" is much more accurate and it's surprising to find that GW et al are aware enough to see the difference.
-
surprised they don't come up with an acronym using GBush!
-
Oh believe me, if there is one thing that today's politicians have a handle on, it is the fact that a terminology can change the public's perception of an issue. That's why conservatives changed "inheritance tax" to "death tax" (for example). Here's some more, taken from the last group of presidential candidates.
-
And the global struggle against violent extremism can be won? It's an illusion on the grandest of scales. GSAVE the queen! When there's no future How can there be sin We're the flowers in the dustbin We're the poison in your human machine We're the future you're future
-
"Seems to me that "the global war on terrorism" is a misnomer, since terrorism isn't really something that can be "won", per se (akin to the "war on drugs")." The rest of us have only been saying this for four fucking years. Seriously, you never heard anyone make these comments before? Terry Jones wrote an article about the exact fucking thing in the Observer in 2002 and George Carlin based a whole fucking routine on it. The internet has been full of the same statements repeated ad nauseam in variant wordings since 9/11.
-
Crazy Republicans' Unending Struggle Against Dark-skinned Extremists.
-
The rest of us have only been saying this for four fucking years. That's true. I did say that.
-
And the global struggle against violent extremism can be won? Um, that was my point, it can't.
-
The rest of us have only been saying this for four fucking years. What's with the fucking snarks? Like I've not read something from YOU in the last 3 months that I haven't heard before ad nauseam? Get the fuck down from that perch dude.
-
I know that was your point techsmith, I was just following-up on it in my own awkward way.
-
What's with the fucking snarks? The angriest blogger gets a ribbon from satan when he or she dies.
-
I don't think Chyren is on a perch, rather, he is scuttling along the ground, cawing, eating bits of raw meat and cheese ;-]
-
It took four years for the president of the United States to realize that fighting terrorism has a political component? It took six months for his senior advisers to retool a slogan? This confirms what I've thought since day one. This administration is the governmental equivilent of the company that Dilbert works for. George Bush is the pointy haired boss. I am not joking.
-
I do so enjoy repartee. : )
-
I do so enjoy repartee. You gotta fight for your right to repartee!
-
You gotta fight for your right to repartee! Oh, so close. The correct answer was: "You gotta fight for your right to repartee!" But we have some lovely parting gifts. . .
-
we have some lovely parting gifts Now you're just taunting me. reparteeing gifts indeed.
-
"Get the fuck down from that perch dude." Do you mean from my high-horse? Or my pedestal?
-
The high-horse stands on top of the pedestal, which is built upon a perch. Sitting atop this horse, Chyren spreads mazda-related wisdom to the masses of monkeyfilter.
-
aye. Now send me money and free crappy robotic hands.
-
I think it's a bass, not a perch. But close enough.
-
I losing you Chyren. What's your point now?
-
try wiggling the antennas. Wolof, you posted my FPP for the day. That'll be $3.95. US! Fortunately, the war is over. So you can all go back to bitching about Ashlee Simpson. Those guys at the football game were jerks.
-
Times article (reg req. sorry) Since I can't post it now that Wolof took my idea. /pouts
-
Fortunately, the war is over. Gen. Casey looks pissed. I wonder why.
-
That's it, Chy is Bender.
-
Why would they want to change the name from terrorist to violent extremists? That doesn't make sense. "Terrorist" has worked very well for four years now. It is a short, catchy word. It is ambiguous enough to be adapted to describe just about anything the administration doesn't like. People in the US hear the word "terrorist" and they think, "evil, baby-killer who hates the US and wants to take away my freedom." "Terrorist" has been the best piece of propaganda that the Bush Administration has had. Violent extremists? Hell, there are plenty of people who might define that term in such a way that it would describe the military actions of the Bush administration. Why would they want to risk that kind of association and embarrassment?
-
They prefer to be called "persons of exceptionally strong ideological conviction"
