hmm...bugger...the "at" should be "approaches" - must have hit post instead of preview. Story of my life.
-
I heard she only went into music because they had such a hard time getting her confirmed for the SCOTUS.
-
And the creative artists who are most revered in Icelandic culture, she points out, are not musicians at all but writers. "If you put a book out at 20, you're regarded as promising. It isn't until 40 that the serious shit really kicks in and perhaps you'll write your masterpiece at 55. You have to collect all these experiences to write about. Then you need the work ethic to sit down for a year and cut yourself off while you put it together. I like that, clip-worthy quote for sure.

Once upon a time, I saw this cilp pf Bjork walking through the airport, looking...crazier than usual. Some reporter comes up to try to talk to her, and Bjork FLIPS OUT (Ninja Style) and starts beating the piss out of her. Sadly, I didn't see a link to that clip on here.
-
I love Bjork. I found last year's album to be almost unlistenable, however. Still, I would rather someone bore me by trying hard to different than bored by someone trying hard to sound the same.

That clip shows her hitting a reporter that tried to interview her little kid. I've found her latest stuf, with the exception of Medulla, difficult to digest... but still , her sole presence is riveting. And I'll admit to fight back tears when watching 'I've seen it all' in Dancer in the Dark. Oh boy.

Bjork's a pioneer. She's someone that musicians (especially experimental and electronic) will be paying homage to for the next 30 to 40 years (or more). )))
-
Bjork is, I think, someone who comes along once in a lifetime, someone who lives life more fully and brings it to music in ways few artists can. Along with that she's developed a reputation as a diva, an oddball, perhaps a bit of a nutter. But really, who cares? Her music is incomparable and listening to her comment on her life and music she seems as if she's someone who's just now discovering celebrity and all it's downsides even though she's been in the biz for all these many years. And then of course there's her face, elvish, asianish, plain yet strikingly beautiful. Just amazing. Absolutely amazing. I've got four images of her posted around my room and the expressiveness of her eyes just drinks you in.

I adore Björk. I must admit though I'm finding it a little difficult to get into Medúlla. I saw her at the Hordern back in 1996 and she was absolutely mesmerising. Downstairs at the Melbourne art gallery they have a large screen loop of her "All is full of love" playing.
-
Love Bjork for her artistic bravery and the sublime music she has been producing for 20-odd years. Couldn't stand Dancer in the Dark - in fact I'd go further than that, it *really* pissed me off to be emotionally manipulated in such a clumsy, heavy-handed way (though I liked the musical numbers). Some of her songs take me to places that no one else's can reach, and others I find borderline unlistenable. But that is the mark of someone who primarily makes art as opposed to "product". The fact that she sells so well is both astonishing and kind of comforting - maybe the world's music fans aren't the mindless zombies that they so often appear.

I have a schoolboy crush on Bjork. (The flip-out on the reporter is from years of being hounded by her. Apparently the last article before the fight was full of so man offensive lies that Bjork just lost it when the bitch showed up in front of her.) (Bjork hits better than most people I've seen)

I love Bjork. I found last year's album to be almost unlistenable, however. ... I adore Björk. I must admit though I'm finding it a little difficult to get into Medúlla. Ahh I totally agree, except I stopped buying after Vespertine. I really wanted to like it but something keeps me from enjoying it.

Here's that video of her beating up the reporter. Some NSFW ads on the page, unfortunately.

Still, I would rather someone bore me by trying hard to different than bored by someone trying hard to sound the same. well said, bernockle
-
I would rather someone not trying hard to bore me.
-
bernocle, found your phrase piquant and amusing, couldn't help playing with it. So this is all your fault. ;] trying hard to different some men learn to different some are bored to different and some men bound to different to head to heel to different heartbeat come to hounding pound to different always only drum

"Still, I would rather someone bore me by trying hard to different than bored by someone trying hard to sound the same." Wow. This just goes to show what can happen when I don't read what I write. Unfortunately for anyone who reads what I write, I never read what I write. It should have read: Still, I would rather be bored by someone trying hard to be different than be bored by someone trying hard to sound the same.

I'm bored.
-
Your boredom is so boring.
-
OK dog face, come on and bore me.
-
Justify your boredom however you please.
-
Get over it, boredomisers.
-
I'm interested
-
Now that's boring.
-
ZZzzzzz.... oh, wha', Bjork? *perks up a little* *starts dozing, heavy eyelids* Zzzzzzzzzzz...
-
this doesnt make that much sense to me, what with real estate being at such a premium on Bjork.
-
Get over it. Justify your Bjork however you like.
-
Bjork if you like Finland. I'll utter 'Bjork! Bjork!' next time I, eh, pinch someone in a funny part of the body. Wish me luck on the result.
