middleclas tool is making a movie and blogging the process.

I hope his team wins.

  • That's awesome! I'll be reading closely this weekend to see how it all goes. I wonder what genre they chose. Sounds like they've got a great team with a lot of expertise. Thanks for the link! And good luck MCT!
  • ... classy. As opposed to class ick.
  • Woo, superhero!
  • drjimmy11 just made a movie I heard it's awesome. (huge ass 450MB mpeg file)
  • oh and good luck MiddleclassTool also.
  • and no on further reflection I dont really expect anyone to download 450MB of my movie. That is the file I made for the DVD and I havent bothered to make a smaller one for the web. Its late and Im tired. That is all.
  • drjimmy11- could you post a few screencaps maybe so we know what we're getting ourselves into? that would be cool.
  • Coooool. I can't wait to see what you all come up with, middleclasstool! Self linkage ahead... I've been working on my zombie movie for about a month now. Who knows how it'll turn out, but the trailer is here. Also, if you're interested, my previous film effort, Zero Sum, won Best Director at the 2005 Progeny Film Festival...
  • Holy best boy, if anyone needs me on the casting couch I am oiled and ready to thesp you so bad you won't be able to shout "action" for a week. Who else here makes filums? And good luck middleclass!
  • Do cooking videos count? I've made a couple of them on my food blog. Quite amateur compared to these, obviously.
  • Quid, sounds like if you make it cold-pressed Tuscan olive oil you might be in with a chance. or at least a tasty marinade.
  • i make animated features
  • Grand linkage! Looking forward to following the toolshed. It was the robots! Nice drjimmy11, can I burn to DVD and pass along to a friend? Now, to check the rest of this stuff out... hmmm...
  • What would you do if you found yourself locked in an inescapable prison, with little food and no water, and a strange, open door that won't let you pass through? I'd rent the movie cube and find out. Ok, that's probably a little snarky, but that's because I'm trying to watch a quiet movie and my fucking neighbor won't quite mowing the lawn... argh!
  • Go mct and Mrs. mct!! Give me that Barton Fink feeling!!
  • Go, go, monkeyfilm! Or go-go monkeyfilm, whichever you prefer.
  • Got a second to breathe after getting my ass kicked by Mr. Superlative. Thought I'd come say thanks. THANKS FOR LETTING ME TAKE OVER THE WORLD MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!11!!!1
  • Woo! Go mct (and the Mrs.)! It sounds like so much fun, and I hope you win!
  • Yes, I am a unitard (the be-helmeted unitard).
  • This is extremely awesome.
  • My, so many monkey movies. I should like to present you all with gold-plated banana statuettes in the appropriate categories.
  • what a 'tard.
  • I made a comment in this thread but it was removed. Why?
  • Anyway, I made an animated short once. Made in the age of film, when this kind of thing was still a lot of work.
  • Fuck, am I tired. But not too tired to bask in your glowing praise. Have Koko bathed and sent to my chambers. She and Mrs. Tool will be having a pillow fight this evening. I appear to be done for the day. Hope that's the case, anyway. I dropped in to say the following: we're going to get a Little Rock DVD collection as soon as it's released, and I'd be willing to bet that Robert would be willing to pass out copies of our movie for free ahead of time. Let's assume the following conditions: (1) I manage to get the thing converted to an mpeg small enough to download (never done anything remotely close to that before). (2) I find adequate hosting for download (that's a big question mark, probably the biggest of them all). (3) I'm not unspeakably ashamed of the finished project (no, wait, that's the big one). If all three conditions are met, I'll come back here later with a link. Now I'm going to check out everybody else's stuff.
  • I made a comment in this thread but it was removed. Why? .
  • Thanks wolof. So it wasn't removed, but just misfiled. Don't know what happened there, because I didn't even read that post. A bug somewhere in the code?
  • I've seen that happen to me too. Well, I've seen it where I've posted a reply but it doesn't show up, and I've seen other replies in threads that are clearly from another thread. is bug.
  • Weirdest damn bug I ever seed.
  • Weird bug indeed, and since it doesn't happen often, almost impossible to track down. I can't tell you what I did special because I found out only a day later. It might be that I had two tabs open with MonkeyFilter in it...
  • mct, when the time comes, see if you can set up a .torrent, I'd be happy to lend my upload pipe, which tends to fly upwards of 100 kB/s.
  • Some bad news. However, I am told that our movie, while still a bit warty, is supremely awesome, and were it not for the six minutes, we'd likely have kicked the hell out of everyone. We'll screen it for the team tonight, and then I'll post my own reactions.
  • Oh, and if anyone can lend me expertise on how to convert DVD to mpeg and torrent, it'd be much appreciated.
  • Meantime, as soon as I get the DVD, I'll post screenshots.
  • Crapcakes! Looking forward to seeing it though.
  • FuXx0red.
  • Sorry, mct! Stuff like this inevitably happens :( But now you have valuable experience for next year, when you will rule the world!
  • Aaaargh! Sorry to hear that, MCT.
  • ouch. sorry you had to go through that, after so much work! at least it's still eligible for some stuff--audience appreciation sure is nice.
  • Ah fuck. Well, it's the journey, as they say...
  • Oh damn. I'm really sorry for you MCT.
  • sorry you didn't make the nationals :-( but congratulations on your effort nonetheless. > Oh, and if anyone can lend me expertise on how to convert DVD to mpeg and torrent if you're still looking for help on this let me know.
  • Oh, MCT - you poor goose! ;) Still ... can't wait to see what you guys done.
  • A man after my own fuck-up heart. Sorry to hear your misfortune.
  • There are some big doin's ahead. Evidently someone has offered to host ALL of the films online, though it's not up yet. I'll update with an address just as soon as I know.
  • Middleclasstool does it again. Too bad they can't do a "Making of ..." for director's cut DVD.
  • Break a leg MCT!
  • Yeah, sorry the city of Little Rock fell through on posting the movies. They had planned to post all entries, this being contingent on a bill being passed that would allocate more funds for the city gov's film office (which I have heard has a staff of precisely one). The bill was defeated because of some bullshit fear that suddenly LR would become porn central. As if the internet didn't exist. So this year I'm either posting to youtube or google video, or at worst will make and post a torrent to both last year's film and this year's. Microbudget shlock ahoy! I hope to do a nude scene this year. I can shed a nascent beer gut in five days, right?
  • Sounds as though it's panty hose with tummy contol for you.
  • Drink more beer, it'll flush that fat right out of your system.
  • If you are interested in doing pantyhose porn, I think we should talk...
  • Middleclasstool wishes me to inform you that the film "rocks eight different kinds of ass" and that he does indeed appear nude (well, nude-ish) in it. Bittorrent links to both films will be made available in this thread this month, in accordance with the dark law of the Sith. That is all. Rebel scum.
  • That's no moon.
  • Oh, yes, it is.
  • *averts eyes*
  • I have just been alerted by e-mail that we have officially made the top ten selections of the Little Rock project. Given the screening for our particular group, this pretty much makes us a lock for the Group C audience award. Not a huge revelation, and we won't know the official judging for the winner until Thursday, but even so, it rules.
  • I think your success can be attributed entirely to the revelation of the Middle Class Tuchas. Congrats.
  • Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing it, mct (if that is indeed possible).
  • big ups to l'outilbourgeois!
  • Torrents will be made available just as soon as our director gets me links to the online movies. I'll post a link here when I've got it.
  • Proper!
  • These are the top ten, for your pleasure, in no particular order: Mr. Beautiful, Zargo Productions --Pretty funny mockumentary about a male beauty pageant contestant Tracking a Roller, 4 Square 4 Life --A hilarious show in which two guys hunt city buses with a bow Leave of Absence, Standing Strong Productions --Moving story about a man learning to cope with losing his family Monitor, Snowballs in Hell --Inventive silent film in which a security guard stalks and kills a woman, all on the security cameras Sidetracked, Sundaze --Amusing romance shot entirely on a trolley downtown By 5, Amalgamated Motion Pictures --Damn funny action/adventure: WOMAN MUST MAKE FAX BY 5:00!!!1! Lucy, Rockets Go! --Silent film also about dealing with family death. The most visually stunning film of the LR Project Unnatural Disasters, Team Arkansas Times --BEST MOVEI EVAR!!!11!11! Hello Destiny My Name is Dwayne, Sheep Throwing Boy --Cute "bumpkin goes to the big city" tale. Jump, Over Easy --Road picture that features lots and lots of man ass
  • Umm dude I don't wanna harsh the buzz or whatever, but there are totally no snakes on those planes. I wanna see 'em all tho - will they all be posted/torrentetinoed?
  • Don't know if it counts as a snake, but in the "jump" scene from "Jump" I definitely caught a glimpse of star-peen.
  • No, they won't all be torrented. Technically we're not supposed to post them online, so we'll only be offering ours, and that's done strictly on the QT -- I'm not posting the info on my blog, because I know for a fact that the Little Rock 48 Hour people read it. But of course ours are the only films that matter. So be happy with what you get, peteBITCH!
  • Technically we're not supposed to post them online Yo, MCT--this is for the 48 Hour Film Project that started out of DC and is now in all sorts of cities, right? If that's the case, I know the organizers aren't keen on you posting your film before the theatrical screenings, but people can and do post their films after the screenings. They want you to show off your work, submit your film to festivals, etc. They just don't want the you to steal the theatrical showing thunder (doubtless because of the ticket-buying, but there ya go). But put 'em online after this week. It's kosher. Heck, you can see 5 of the ones I've worked on here (you can even see me sing in one). The 48 producers know...and of course knowing is half the battle.
  • My understanding is that they changed the rules this year. Up through last year, ownership of the films was shared between the individual teams and the Project. This year, they're claiming *full* ownership. And according to my director, they're asking not to post them online. I'll double-check the fine print and make sure, but that's our understanding.
  • Well, I just reread the participant's agreement off the website, and either (a) they have last year's form up, or (b) we got some bad info there. May have been a tempest in a teacup.
  • Oh, and BearGuy, none of the large, medium, or small links work on that site. Love the design, though.
  • Or you can just give us the script and we'll each enact our own version with sock puppets.
  • Well, I just reread the participant's agreement off the website, and either (a) they have last year's form up, or (b) we got some bad info there. May have been a tempest in a teacup. I hope it's an easily-resolved tempest. I know there's a bunch of semi-obnoxious stipulations with ownership, but I don't think the 48 folks will try and keep a good film down. I know they want to distribute the "Best of" and such which is why ownership comes into play, but as the idea of the fest is to get filmmakers of every stripe off their tuckus and winding up with a finished film at the end of the weekend, yeah, the full ownership thing doesn't ring true. Now if it does prove true, I know a certain 48 producer who's going to get a polite WTF call from a certain BearGuy. none of the large, medium, or small links work on that site Bugger. Well, I know the film links work in both Firefox and IE on PC, and the site is developed by Mac gurus, so it should work on Safari as well. The thing is, the Tohubohu exec producer made sure the films only play in pop-up windows so there's no direct link. (this--I am given to understand--is to make sure the films, legally, cannot be deemed to have already being 'distributed' for some small print somewhere). So if you have a particular pop-up blocker, or are not clicking on the size text (ie click on "large" instead of "40.5 mb") then the new window won't play. Hope that helps. But in the meantime, let us know when we can see some MCT action. Like the idea of the sock puppets btw.
  • I lost my sock puppet :(
  • LARA WIL GIV U A MITN
  • NO SHE LOST TH MITN SHE HAS GLUV THO
  • *bReeEEe?!* -=glip!=- @tWoiNG!*@

  • mct - one thing I learned back in the 60s, when I was the director of the local Wine and Harvest Festival "queen show" for a couple of years (no, the 1960s type queen) was that it isn't necessarily the best who wins, in fact it tends to be the mediocre one whom the judges can finally agree didn't stink. The good ones appealed to different judges, but they couldn't agree on the absolute best, so they compromised.. Kind of like the Miss America contests, where you knew that there were several candidates who were far better than the one who was crowned.
  • You want that some judges should get kicked in the knee? This is a service I could offer to you.
  • Hey, bitches! Download my goddamn bittorrent here!
