Curious Editorial George: Help with business name!

I'm looking at setting up a very small local freelance editing business, and need a catchy name before I can move on with website, adverts, etc. I think "Wordsworth" is already taken, as is "Wordswork", which makes me want to go off on quite a different tangent. Any brilliant ideas from you erudite monkeys? I'd like it to sound professional, possibly witty, definitely not goofy. Thanks!

  • You can go totall absurd like I did. Beleive it or not, my name on this site is a play on my company name "Rancho Calamari Productions". Honest, it sticks in folks minds.
  • The Word Nerd might be good for certain markets, but do nerds take advice? It has a good sound though. What type of documents are you interested in editing? If you have speciality you'd want to focus on, the name might come from that. Or, is it just any kind?

  • I like old-school establishment-style names. Like James Q. Farknuckler & Sons, Editors. That's over the top, but you get the drift.
  • Perhaps you could go with your MoFi username? And for your logo a pictograph depicting a fish with a tick coming forth from it's mouth, or such... Scales composed of jumbled alphanumeric characters...

  • You're all amazing - thanks very much! There are a lot of winners there, and I will mull them over for some time. Yay! hee hee - textual healing's a fine one - wonder about text maniac?
  • Textual Healing does sound like a winner, although I do share the concern lamearse expressed about gimmicky hairdresser names (A Cut Above, Shear Delight, Haircut 100). On one hand, I'm glad no one picked Writing Academy (the one I use); on the other hand, nobody else seems to have any interest in it either!
  • Text Maniac sounds like you're gonna go psycho all over the copy. Textual Healing sounds like you'll lovingly seduce it to a, um, textual climax.
