An android recreation of Philip K Dick is appearing at nextfest.
  • Well, we are living in PKD's universe, after all.
  • Hey! I wrote part of the program for that 'droid. I wondered if/when it would ever be released.
  • Who's doing the voice?
  • ooh, more details invoke (if you can)! it's simultaneously one of the most screwed up and poetically just things I've ever seen.
  • I find myself wondering about the theme of the down-time diagnostics routines. Sheep?
  • I wrote an I Ching throwing Java class for it. Supposedly that will influence some of its actions. I'm old friends with the creator's girlfriend, and she asked me to help. I'm not very involved at all, that was a one-off little program which took just a few minutes to write, but it is interesting to be associated at all with such a crazy-odd thing.
  • Easily the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. Thanks for the links.
  • Ah. Memepool's link to it is great! "Does the Philip K. Dick android dream of electric sheep?"
  • Neato! I planned on going to Nextfest anyway.
  • This is going to help PKD get the recognition he really deserves. I hope I get to see this some day.
  • I went to this exhibit today. The line was long so our time together was short. About 8 of 12 people asked him questions. Most were poorly interpreted but not necessarily the android's fault. The thick Aussie accent one guy had made it hard for me to understand him. Another question was asked using really poor dicatation. I asked 'him' what he thought of Riddley Scott's interpretation of Blade Runner and got a non-sequiter answer. Overall, Nextfest was a pretty neat exhibition. I saw a lot of cool stuff.
