Urban Air Fresheners. "We created an array of fragrances to help keep you pimpin!"
  • But, what are the fragrances? Did I miss something?
  • yeah they seem big on "vision" and "concept" but not so hot on "execution"
  • But, what are the fragrances? Old money and new money?
  • AH! i found the scents, in a PDF file on the site: Here is your chance to capitalize on the profitability of Hip-Hop. Introducing URBAN AIR FRESHENERS, a new choice in automobile fragrance. This brand new product uses the eye-catching shape of Hip-Hop’s accessory du jour, the “Pimp Cup,” as displayed by celebrities like 50 Cent, Chingy, Lil’ Jon and Snoop Dog. This creative alternative even has Hip-Hop inspired names for its five available scents: Gangsta Lean (Cherry), Ghetto Fabulous (new car smell), Hot Boy (vanilla), Pimps Up (spice) and Thug Passion.
  • (i guess Thug Passion needs no explanation.)
  • There's a Pimps Up fragrance, but no Hoes Down scent? I demand a refund.
  • The least they could do is come up with new fragrances. You can get these scents anywhere. I would make suggestions, but I don't want my ideas stolen.
  • but what does thug passion smell like? testosterone and gunshot smoke?
  • SideDish, you seem to come up with at least one post a week that just makes me go "Wha...?" and sit there staring at the monitor, unbelieving, unable to admit that such oddness exists in the world. My jaw hangs open, madam. You've done it yet again. Unfathomable. Now, someone order me some Thug Passion so I can trick out my factory-stock Cavalier.
  • what does thug passion smell like? Like the back seat of my Chevy Nova, baby. Spilled forty and stale chiba smoke. Actually, just crushed Diet Pepsi cans. I miss that Nova.
  • I find it interesting that at some point, "urban" became an accepted euphamism for "black." For example, "urban music" = hip hop. "Urban Comedy" = Tuesday night on UPN (a niche formerly owned by FOX). I'm eagerly awaiting UPN's blood soaked epic "The Passion of the Thug"
  • yup pie urban is also used instead of "inner city" now. as in "an urban neighborhood" sted "inner city neighborhood." sheesh.
  • Sidey, that takes me back... Back in the day, when I lived in Milwaukee, inner-city people was basicaly code for black people. After 12 years of living in Portland, the lingo seems somehow foreign - and icky - now. In this town, the po' folks can't afford to live in the inner City. We have a land-rent curve that basically drops off in a geometric decline from the densest part of the urban core, with a few high-priced blips in the south suburbs. Around here, urban neighborhood = expensive restaurants, scarce parking and $400+ per square foot condos. And, uh, need I mention, white?
  • Of course, I don't mean to imply that black = poor, but lets face it, this is too often the case. My city probably has a black bourgoisie but the're not especially visible or sizeable, here in a place that our alternative weekly once called Honkytown, USA.
  • Gotta make move to a town that's right for me A town that keeps me movin', keeps me groovin', with some energy. Well I talk about it, talk about, talk about it, talk about it talk about, talk about, talk about movin', Gotta move on Gotta move on Gotta move on Won't you take me to...Honkytown Won't you take me to...Honkytown Won't you take me to...Honkytown Won't you take me to...Honkytown
  • Out here, middle cless is Japanese, Chinese, Thai, black, and white, and down on the bottom is Hispanic. Over the hill in San Jose, middle class is Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, black, and white, and down on the bottom is Hispanic and ???. The Hispanics are moving up briskly into the middle class, and ??? is opening restaurants and taking over the dry-cleaning industry from the Thais. Life on the west coast is a never-ending adventure in cultural syncretism. But we get a lot of wonderful food out of it. Remember that cool TV series a few years back where the aliens landed...and became just one more ethnic group on the American landscape?
  • That happened in real life too, LaGatta. When they got here, they were just referred to as "Europeans".
