He's more chemical than vegetable now. One of the better Star Wars parodies floating around, slicky produced (oh, I'm so sorry for that).
  • It is a great parody! Too bad it's been posted before.
  • I'm sorry. I promise I searched for it and couldn't find it. Darn, now I sound like one of those people. I'm sorry. My inadequate Search
  • You can't search by url, because it's not actually written in a post.
  • You can search by URL - the only time I've doubled was when I forgot to search. I've often found stuff by searching URL before posting. But that's weird - it's not working for me now.
  • jb, to the best of my recollection, monkeyfilter's search function's never worked for URLs, if by that is meant typing Threads or thread comments are all I've ever seen us have, so that one has to hunt for topics and synonyms and try to guess what phrase or word someone else may have entered. Might you have us mixed up with some other forum?
  • I'm with bees: far as I know it's impossible to search by URL unless the link is in the text. It's one of my missions. Maybe google does it, though?
  • No - I swear I've done it, and found the links too. I never had the <, just the http://. I've never used google to search, and the only forums I post on are here and metafilter. This is a moment of universe error, in which one realises that either you've been halucinating, or you've slipped unnoticed into another universe.
  • Into the Twilight Zone rode the 3600+ monkeys!
  • Heh, cool. Maybe that's one less thing on my to-do list after all...
  • I like cheese.
  • It's taken this long to learn that my double posts were because I searched by url? Poop! I've been scared to post, after my recent blunders. One's always learning something new here, even if it is a bit long in the tooth. *winking at Granma*
  • I like this universe!
  • Bananas are on the dark side?
  • I'm with jb. I swear that I was able to search for linked urls before as well. And now, it doesn't seem to work! Blah! If I'm not mistaken, the search results would display links if the queried url was encapsulated with quotation marks. And now, I feel like an idiot that it doesn't work. I specifically recall on two occasions that I was saved from double posting by searching this way. Hmmm... I'm proud to say, this is the only community I frequent. So, I'm not mistaking it with another...
  • It would work if the link was in the post, I believe, I too seem to have memories of using the technique at least a couple of times, but it was never a very efficient method.
  • This is just, er, delicious...
  • I tried combining the "site" and "link" modifiers on google but it didn't work. Seems that google allows one or the other, but not the combined filter. It does work on yahoo search: search for imbedded url Use "link:[url you're searching for]" and "site:monkeyfilter.com"
  • Dude, you rule (yed, that is). And yes, I'm back. You can recall the hounds and breathe easy, truly and for true.
  • Awesome, yed. I'll put that little bit of advice on the Search page next time I'm editing.
  • "link:[url you're searching for]" and "site:monkeyfilter.com" Except googling link:www.storewars.org/flash/index.html site:monkeyfilter.com doesn't find anything...
