These are amazing, especially the early models. This guy had one fun childhood from the sound of things. Interesting how back in the 60s nobody gave a damn about the damage done to those fragile dunes (as photographed pretty dramatically here). Still, the grease-monkey kid in me enjoyed the site immensely!

Even though I didn't grow up near the beach, where I did grow up had plenty of sand. My pop owned a couple of Jeeps which we would drive out to all kinds of difficult spots in the desert. I likewise remember my dad striping the hood off of abandoned cars out in the desert and we would go sand sleding up and down the dunes. Those were cool times.

this is really fun! the closest i got to a dune buggy was my brother's Matchbox dune buggy. heh.

That was one SWEET link. I hope everyone dig around to find the part where they found the remains of their dad's original dune buggy and then rebuilt it. AWESOME. just in case
