When I'm sixty-four.
  • Good onya Bob.
  • Looking over those Dylan links made me recall Donovan (no doubt the Universal Soldier connection). Electrical banana is gonna be a sudden craze Electrical banana is bound to be the very next phase --Donovan, "Mellow Yellow"
  • I remember seeing Dylan meet Donovan (one of the Dylan movies I think). Donovan was awestruck and Dylan as usual made fun of him as best I recall, and then paid him no mind. A few of Donovan's tunes still resonate with me but they pale in comparison, particularly when looking at the lyrics.
  • Very different performance styles, those two -- saw 'em together in live performance way back in the Universally Stoned Age.
  • that was "Dont Look Back" which I just watched from Netflix. I love Dylan and all, but the film gets a resounding "ehhhh." "Atlantis" by donovan is awesome though and as near as I can tell, must have at least partially inspired "Stonehenge" by Spinal Tap.
  • "Atlantis" by Donovan is simultaneously the unintentionally funniest song and the grooviest song of all time.
  • From the 'where are they now?' file
  • my antediluvian ... oh glub glub ... Full a head with all chakras choked?
  • Wanna buy some mandies, Bob?
  • I love that they're going to be playing minor league ballparks. Fantastic idea.
  • They did it last summer as well.
  • I always liked Buffy Sainte-Marie's original "Universal Soldier" best. Maybe because I heard it first, I don't know. When I saw this post, I immediately thought of Loudon Wainwright's tribute to Dylan written for his 50th, "Talking New Bob Dylan."
  • Has Rufus covered Bob? I wonder. I'd like to hear that.
  • By the way -- good to see you back, jerry. I'll be heading to Myrtle Beach or Raleigh or Greenville in the coming weeks. Or maybe all three of them. I still haven't seen him playing the piano. And I hear good things about the current fiddle player.
