Curious George: Amazon.com gift certificates. Is there any way to convert amazon credit to paypal or cold hard cash?
  • aside from buying something and reselling? don't think so. I guess you could buy something for someone and get them to reimburse you?
  • In the fine print: # Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned for a cash refund.
  • I think teh ebay is the only way.
  • You can try here. No idea about the reliability/reputation.
  • You can just ask your friends to keep you in mind when making a purchase on Amazon.com; just give them your gift certificate to use when they're ready to buy and in return they can write you a check. As said above there's no way to do it through Amazon.
  • hmmm. think that's what i'm going to have to do, helter skelter. thanks everyone.
  • Here's a thought. You can use Amazon gift cards to purchase items from any number of affiliate stores like Target. Target has a pretty lenient return policy (as I recall) for items under a certain amount, especially around the holidays. Maybe you could buy something and then return it to the store for cash?
  • Kimdog, most stores that take gift cards will only give gift cards/store credit on a return paid for that way.
  • Yes, but if you return something without a reciept all together, sometimes the store will just give you cash if it is under a certain amount. They are few and far between, mind you, but the do exist.
