I apologize for making a mostly boring post like this, and thank everyone in advance for even reading. It's for as good a cause as causes get, though, so I figured it was forgivable. If it's not, however, don't hesitate to get rid of it, I don't want to clutter/bother anyone. Some monkeys may remember me from a post a made a few months ago about my memory problems. (I haven't really posted since due to irrational shyness) Anyways, I'm a 16 year old Stage IV Neuroblastoma survivor, and the sister of one of the kids I was in treatment with has organized this big fundraiser. It's called the Kids Walk for Kids with Cancer, and the whole thing is run by kids, most of them in middle and high school, and we've raised $225,000 since we started in 2001. The thing is, we've never had any sort of media coverage. I'm not sure why, but for some reason or another, most news outlets don't like talking about Pediatric Cancer, because I guess it still has a sort of stigma about it, because people don't like to acknowledge its existence. This is were you monkeys can lend a hand, hopefully. If any of you have jobs in the media, or any sort of connections, it would mean the world to me and 12,000 kids diagnosed with pediatric cancers every year if you could either let me know how to get in touch with them, or convince them to give the event some coverage yourself. It's going to by at 12:30 on Saturday, May 14th, in Central Park, near 67th St, just north of Tavern on the Green. If you don't have any sort of media connections and you just want to stop and and participate in the walk, you're more than welcome to. I'll be giving a speech, which I'm sure will convince you to show up!

Absolutely nothing wrong with this post. While I have no connections, I wish you all the best with this whole endeavor and I am sure many other monkeys do, too. BTW, SideDish is a reporter--she might be your best bet in this community.

Any link those of us not in the media might use to donate do personal support?

I'll spread the word. I know someone whose teenaged daughter is currently in remission and she may be able to pass it on to even more people.

Any chance there's a website with details?

Here's a link to donate, path. Thanks. The closest thing we have to a website is a few paragraphs here. Thanks tracicle! Best wishes to your friend's daughter, as well.
