  • Photos they are. If you delve into the site, an area is called "history paintings". A quote I came across claimed that "the composition and the very large format bring them closer to history paintings."
  • See hierarchy of painting-like genres for source of caustic comment made via photography nominated as "History Painting". Now, go visit C18. It's really a very traditional slag on the "Academy".
