Today's squid-related news: because I couldn't find anything about monkeys.
  • So, imagine Todd Bertuzzi with bulging eyes, eight arms, two tentacles, three hearts, a beak for a mouth, a brain wrapped around his esophagus and gullet with a willingness -- nay, eagerness -- to dine on his own kind every other meal, and you get a sense of how the squid has earned such a fearsome reputation. Soooo does this mean the squids are being locked out by the owners? Damn the NHL fatcats.
  • Some high-school kid on the bus this morning was talking about this article. He was obviously impressed by the razor-sharp swivel teeth and the size of a hockey player. Also, everyone knows that, while the BertHumbolt squid fights all right, the burrowing owl and 12-spotted skimmer are better overall players.
  • Eeek!
  • Someone mention my name?
  • So, who wins in a fight? LW Humbolt Squid or Bob Probert?
  • What is it with these fucking squid? What do they want? When will they stop? How much is too much for them? Are they going to relentlessly increase in numbers, beach themselves and scare harmless Jack Tars with their naughty beaks and silly squid-like wiggling behaviour from now until eternity? What will stave off this surging shiteload of cephalapods? /etc
  • Squids! Wicked cool, by the way, how the buggers can communicate.
  • Gar... squid.
  • Still no new articles... oh alright, already, I'll read the "squid" story, and -- EEEEEAASSSHHH!
  • There has been a shit-load of stories about my peeps on this site lately. May I suggest a change to squidfilter?
  • That`s just plain Squid Vicious.
  • More on this story here (with a picture of the squid). And I just had fried calamari rings for lunch. For some reason I can just think "hmmmmm squid" when looking at this pic.
  • I'm actually thinking we need some sort of graphic up depicting monkey and squid amistad. Kind of a fuzzy-paw shaking a tentacle in a sign of peace and unity.
  • *locks & loads, applies tinfoil hat*
  • Armistice. Not amistad. Fucking squids and their malapropisms.
  • eldigilo - the link doesn't work. :( And I was all excited to see the squid...
  • squidsicle
  • fish tick, do you know if they offer dipped in chocolate as an option?
  • bleh.
  • No, I mean amistad, as in the Spanish word for friendship. Oh well.... Also the ship... Squids eat ships you know.
  • eldigilo - the link doesn't work. :( Here it is again. Different server from the same university (did they get monkeyfied after I posted the first link?).
  • Actually, the squidsicle looks more like an octosicle. The texture of the tentacles don't look "squid-like" so much as "octopus-like" to me. Giant Squid, what's your expert opinion?
  • That link works, eldigilo. Thanks! What a creepy looking creature. I'm horrified, and yet I can't look away. These Humbolts are nothing compared to the giant squid - Architeuthis - which has fascinated me since I was a little kid.
  • Ack! Apparently there are even scarier nightmares out there than the giant squid. Meet the colossal squid!
