Details of Hilter's last days in the bunker revealed.
Erna Flegel, Hitler's nurse, reveals what happened in the bunker during Hitler's last days. Not to be confused with Der Untergang, the recent film version of the same events starring Bruno Ganz. Reviews of the film here.
Today (Monday May 2) is the 60th anniversary of the defeat of Berlin.

Hitler was so paranoid... (how paranoid was he?) He was so paranoid that he thought the cyanide in his cyanide capsules had been replaced with non-poison... by spies!

it's interesting that these details are emerging now, just like in "blind spot: hitler's secretary" a few years back. fascinating stuff. i'm glad these folks are recognizing their responsibility to history to tell their stories.

psst.... wanna buy Hitler's diary?

of course that link would be hosted by the Hitler Channel, Skrik!

This morning, I heard an interview on the radio about a book on the last year of the war called Armageddon. The interviewer asked the author why he only gave only a sentance to Hitler's death, and he said because he thought so much had already been written about it, and he wanted to give time to the experience of all the other people.

I can see the need to emphasize other aspects of the story. The fate of the Goebbels children (at the hands of their mother) is grisly, and says more about the end of the war than cheese ravioli.

The Guardian has a little more information (also available at Salon) and an interview with Erna Flegel.

It doesn't sound like much that we didn't already know. I still see no reason to accept any of these accounts on face value.
