History of Pop-up & Moveable Books: I still think this type of 'art' is pretty magical even in the digital age. I had a pirate ship pop-up book as a kid. So if you're stuck for a child's christmas present...
  • Pop up books are beaut. Delightful.
  • The Alice in Wonderland one is particularly impressive. (This photo gives you some idea, but it's even better in person. Also check out the raving Amazon reviews.)
  • I was amazed a few years ago upon seeing my first Sakuda pop-up how far the "pop-up technology" has come since I was a kid. Beautiful, artful stuff, when done well. My good friend Mrs. MiddleClassTool has a Pop-up Book of Phobias and a Pop-up Book of Nightmares that I lust after. So if you're wondering what I'd like for my birthday...
  • Lovely stuff. Thanks and welcome, peacay.
  • thanx :)
  • Welcome peacay. Nice first post. Yay! for Finnie the Fiddler and Little Fanny.
  • Anything by Robert Sabuda is fucking amazing. You should see every one of his books. He even makes pop-up Christmas cards that are gorgeous. My wife collects these things. She has some amazing ones, like Frank Lloyd Wright pop-up (the big centerpiece is a pop-up Guggenheim), the phobias/nightmares that TP mentioned, and the pop-up Kama Sutra. If she hasn't seen this, I'll point her to it. She'll love it. Thanks for the post.
  • Pop up books open your imagination to a whole new world of possibilities.
