Novelty Wines. Tired of the same old red or white wines? While a fine chianti may go well with your next dinner guest, chicken wine probably wouldn't.
  • While I love mushrooms, I suspect mushroom wine would make me want to retch. I've always wanted to try dandelion wine since reading the Ray Bradbury story, though.
  • I've done some similar things while doing home brewed beer. I did a spiced cherry ale a few years ago and also did a date ale (about half dates and half malt) and both of them turned out quite nicely.
  • Reminds me of cock-ale, which I read about in an M.F.K. Fisher book. And that made me wonder what it is people do with those lonely dusty bottles of clam juice you see in the mixer section of the grocery store.
  • I've done some similar things while doing home brewed beer. See, I need to get a homebrew setup. A buddy of mine does it constantly, in large volume, and he's made some amazing brews just by throwing random stuff that he likes into the pot. Also, I can't afford to buy good beer all the time, and I figure this'd be cheaper after the initial setup costs. I am constantly on the lookout, also, for a recipe I've heard of that allows you to make pumpkin brandy in the shell. I've never gotten anything more than some very general instructions. If anybody knows where I can find detailed instructions, e-mail's in the profile.
  • Tired of the same old red or white wines? Not yet. That being said, this looks interesting and fun. I mgiht try this at college or something. Heh.
  • Mgiht! Mgiht!
  • *pass Mpfp paper bag* "Breathe in...breathe out..."
  • I tried some green chile wine while in New Mexico once. It was like drinking hot.
  • It tastes like burning!
  • If anyone has a demijohn, I'd be willing to send some Chinese tea over and see if that works out ok. The tea and herbal wines have me very intrigued.
  • Sispect we may have accidently made chicken wine a few times in the back of the lowest refrigerator shelf. Bury it! Bury it! fast and deep, in the dead of night, in the compost heap!
  • Lest restless chicken spirits rise, With eerie eyes alight, And your household terrorise!
  • don't cook tonight call chicken delight we deliver
  • This stuff in the link-to article tastes almost drinkable, so I feel obligated to provide you with a better recipe. Yes, my fellow Filtered Monkeys, now you don't have to be incarcerated in a maximum-security prison to enjoy the taste of fine homemade pruno! An authentic recipe derived from a poem by San Quentin Death Row poet laureate Jarvis J. Masters is here. Me, I'd rather stay on the outside where, if I get desperate, I can always panhandle up enough for some Cisco.
  • middleclasstool: Regarding homebrewing: It's fun and very rewarding (especially when others drink ya brew and tell you what a ghod you are-it's the best part). But, golly, it's labor intensive. If your time is even close to money, you'll drop it like a hot potato. The other side of the coin is if you have more time than money, it's a fantastic hobby and extremely satisfying and you can save a buck or two.
  • Fancy a little Egyptian number? Well aged!
