Groundhog Day
Today is Groundhog Day in the U.S. In honor of my favorite day of the entire year, here are some fun links:
Groundhog Day songs
Groundhog Day birthdays
Groundhog Day the movie
Groundhog day blog

The amount of time that went into that groundhog day songbook hurts my head.

I wonder after the thought that prompts one to get their weather forecasting information from a largish rodent. And for only a single day! I mean, groundhogs live in holes. 364 days a year, that means the forecast is "dark, smelly, with occasional bugs and worms." We should trust him today?
-
Cynic! We like it because it's fun, not because we ignore chaos theory and believe a fluffy rodent can actually predict six weeks of weather.
-
While I like Groundhog day, I'm really looking forward to February 29 and the Ides of March.

i was interviewing the PR guy for the u.s. naval observatory last week (about leap year), he said that groundhog day is an actual astronomical occurrence -- it's a "cross-quarter" day that marks the halfway point of a season. so, as he said, regardless of what the groundhog says, we have six more weeks of weeks of winter. other cross-quarter days include halloween and may day.

Psssssst! There's another reason Groundhog Day is Kimberly's favorite day! Look at the silly monkey!
-
In an interesting bit of trivia, Kimberly shares a birthday with the following: Christie Brinkley Farrah Fawcett Graham Nash (of Crosby, Stills, and Nash & Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young) Tom Smothers and BRENT SPINER! There's a really funny joke behind Brent Spiner. But he won't move, and now we're going to miss it. Thanks, Brent.
