Unforseen consequences of biometric anti-theft systems. I don't even want to think about retinal scanners.
  • Now, THAT's giving somebody the finger...
  • Reminds me of Sleeper except with real fingers.
  • Maybe if he had given them a hand they wouldn't have taken a finger!
  • I wonder if this man could point to a single problem in driving such a vehicle!
  • Hopefully he got a good look at his attacker's faces so he can finger them in the police lineup!
  • I bet digital security systems are more secure...oh wait, this was a digital system!
  • After the harrowing ordeal, Mr. Kumaran treated himself to a nice bowl of Wendy's chili.
  • This is, however, not an unforseen consequence. Just remember this story next time your school/bank/government/Bill Gates suggests using biometric identification.
  • Apparently, the sensor didn't distinguish between a live or dead finger. So now I'm wondering just how hard it would be to get a cast of a finger, then cast it into rubber...would that fool the sensor?
  • How hard is it to fakeout a finger print reader? Not so hard via Crypto-Gram . "Matsumoto is not a professional fake-finger scientist; he's a mathematician" Yum, Gummi Bears ....
  • If any of my passwords are compromised, or I suspect them to be compromised, or even as regular preventative maintenance, I can just make up another one. But what of my irises? Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather have the weak link in the chain be a replaceable object or a datum or algorithm in my head. I think I'll take my chances with social engineering techniques over mutilation any day.
  • someone ask me how many bananas I just ate seriously and a box of cheese-its
  • Is this the only key where you put the ring on it, rather than the other way around?
  • Mesmer, great link. Eat the evidence once you're in...Yah!
  • Who in Malaysia drives a $75,000 luxury car?
  • Geez, rolypolyman, I've commented twice in my own thread already, but I have to step in and ask: "have you never been across a border?" The "poorer" a country is touted to be, the more the separation of wealth. I guarantee you a few Haitians drive around in whatever's the most expensive. Besides which, Malaysia isn't all that poor. Plenty of industry and banking, and they don't even get drunk and spend all that money.
