I can prove I got there before you. Some people like to mail me links they find, be it the social bookmark of the hour or the rss feed of the minute. Now, thanks to carldr's latest offering, I can reply with handy must try harder links that prove I was today's cool yesterday.
  • It's a neat idea, but usually the people that need to know how cool I am believe me without time-stamped evidence.
  • Sounds to me like this guy created an app that collects links. He sells it like you said "prove that you were there first", but everyone else just uses it like a new meta/monkey filter. All the people showing how cool they are add links which just direct traffic to this guy's site. Throw on some google ads, step back (no need to moderate) and watch the pennies trickle in.
  • If he can make a website that I happen to find useful, and then down the line sell out to Union Square Ventures, Amazon.com, Marc Andreessen, BV Capital, Esther Dyson, Seth Goldstein, Josh Koppelman, Howard Morgan, Tim O'Reilly, and Bob Young.. well good luck to him. Until then I don't see and google ads, and at 7k per graphicless page they shouldn't be needed. Clearly the signup process is intended to be viral, and fools like me will bootstrap it with posts like this, but beyond that I don't see the harm.
