Andre Norton, 1912-2005 Andre Norton, requisat in pace. One of the great ladies of science fiction and fantasy has passed. Her fansite is blacked out for 24 hours in mourning. *sigh* Miami Herald. NYT stories. (via)

She was one of the first SF/F authors I fell in love with, right around age 9 to 10, and I've read her works ever since.

  • Okay, my links aren't working. Apologies. This is my first post. Here's the raw linkage: http://www.andre-norton.org/ http://www.sf-fandom.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=17960 http://www.xenite.org/ http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/living/people/11162011.htm http://www.nytimes.com/2005/03/18/books/18norton.html? http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/arts/AP-Obit-Norton.html? http://linkfilter.net/?id=77807
  • Note to self: never post when you're exhausted and sick. I'm off to bed with some Nyquil and one of her books. Sorry again for the sloppy post.
  • now to the Witch World wanders its queen
  • For the lazy monkeys who don't want to copy 'n paste links, try these nanas: "Andre Norton, 1912-2005 Andre Norton, requisat in pace. One of the great ladies of science fiction and fantasy has passed. Her fansite is blacked out for 24 hours in mourning. *sigh*

  • Sad day. I also grew up with her SciFi/SciFan books. She was a prolific author, and even if her books took on a sameness toward the end, she was still a fun read on occasion. The world is achanging.
  • That's so sad. It seems like she had loving people around her at the end, though.
  • Thanks, sugarmilktea.
  • Oh. *cries*
