"Let's say 1 cookie equals $10 billion..." Ben Cohen explains the federal budget with Oreos. [Flash.]
  • So if you come home from a weekend of watching Phish play in some godforsaken meadow in Vermont, and are majorly buzzed, do you just eat the whole Pentagon budget while waiting for Dominos to deliver?
  • Not crazy about the cartoonish partisan politics, but the philosophy works for me. Long as I don't get spammed. I'll keep you posted.
  • let's place bets about when nabisco is going to rain a world of hurt down upon truemajority for their (i assume) unlicensed use of the heavily protected brand identity "oreo"...
  • But, it's free advertizing for them. Anyway, how is this different from moveon.org? (besides having fun flash animations, I mean) Is it just a subtly different corner of the political spectrum? Targeting a different political spectrum?
  • **Targeting a different demographic.** I mean
  • I think this is a nice little video, but it always amazes me that people think if you throw money at a problem it will go away. Problems in education and world hunger are deep policy issues that will not magically get better by dumping money in the laps of inefficient bureaucrats.
  • Speaking as someone who aspires to be an inefficient bureaucrat, well, more corrupt really I suppose, shh. Give me your money and everything will be better. As far as the video goes though, I enjoyed it.
  • As Groucho said, it couldn't hoit.
  • I can't help but feel the cartoon does simplify matters, but it does raise the question: what are our priorities in the U.S? As a citizen, I think this question should be asked a lot more.
  • BTW, I think Keith Talent's scenario would make a great, comedic Twilight Zone episode... [Munch] What happened to our budget?
  • incidentally, i did subscribe and I've been getting about one note every two days, generally on topics I care about. Seems it could only be helpful.
