Giant Steps, visually translated.
What Michal Levy sees when he listens to Coltrane's work. Well, I just think it's purty.
-
And, of course, you can't forget this previous Giant Steps fpp.
-
That first one puts me in mind of those feature length all-music movies (Fantasia, Koyaanisqatsi, The Wall) and makes me wish I could see one in theaters now.
-
I think it's beautiful. I think it's a perfect visual interpretation of a classic Jazz solo; almost like what you'd show someone who'd been deaf from birth to explain the appeal of a masterfully-done Jazz solo.
-
nifty. gracias.

Very nice. I often don't like abstract representations of music--the Bach segment in Fantasia left me cold, for example--but this one works beautifully, for reasons I can't quite put my fingers on.
-
Thank you for sharing that! It is one of my favorite Coltrane pieces and it was wonderful to see a visual expression of it.
-
I was half expecting some representation of aural-visual synaesthesia, and in a way it is such a presentation. It gives some insight into how Mr. Levy thinks, by showing how he maps the music to his own medium of expression. Most excellent post. )))!

Awesome. Of course you monkeys rember johncoltrane.com -- a good source of information and samples.

Shweet! Nice use of Flash.
